Let's Talk Electric Blankets
« on: December 16, 2011, 10:13:32 AM »
Anybody have them?   Like them?

Two nights ago, my electric blanket burned the insides of my knees pretty bad and now they're blistering up (GROSS).

Still used my EB last night though.  Too cold in my room not to use it.

What do you guys think of them?

Did you put a sheet between the blanket and your body?

I don't use EB's often. I usually prefer to just turn up the thermostat if it is too cold in the house.

No way. Cannot sleep when I'm sweating my balls off.

I like them but Gooch won't let me have one.   :shakesfist:
Which is made worse by the fact that he keeps the thermostat at "freezing".

Maybe that's just an elaborate setup for giving you your own Team Jacob blanket for Christmas.

turn it on 15 minutes before you get to bed and turn it off when you get into bed. Problem solved.

Seems like you need to show him who wears the shoes in the family.

My room is about 70% windows and it gets really cold at night in the Winter.  I'm talking like 50-55 degreesish cold.

"Turn up the thermostat"

Great idea, but I thought of that already and it doesn't work in my room.

I'm using a pretty good combination of electric blanket and space heater.  Aside from the burns, it's been great.

When I think of an electric blanket I think of old people with poor circulation.

yeah, in winter there is nothing better w/ really warm blankets in a cold room. The high thermostat ruins this experience.

Had an EB growing up. Loved it. Always did the pre-bedtime warm-up thing (had no heat in the upstairs). Then Readers Digest ran an article saying they might cause cancer, so my mom took away the controller thing. EB's that aren't plugged in really suck.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."
