yeah, but I kind of don't like to hear frank talk about going to the zone because of foul trouble when JHR is just sitting on the bench. And Frank can talk about players that practice getting PT, but, like, it's just coincidence that McGruder and Wally play against KU after not seeing the court in forever? I put out bench on Frank. It should be better and it's not. We'll see that next year too.
and when clemente started feeling it, instead of running sets for him or hell even for pullen who had 15 at half, we're still trying to get it inside to Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) Lu and our other bigs who were playing like retards. I mean, I put Jamar's 4th foul entirely on Lu because for some odd reason he's trying to do an up and under on cole instead of kicking it back out.
JHR played 2 minutes in Manhattan. I don't know what it is, but clearly Frank didn't like the match-up of JHR against KU.
We ran Clemente and Pullen through screens constantly trying to get them open. KU's perimeter defense was the best we've seen all year last night. Our only hope was inside-out looks, but again Kelly's limited play and Jam-Sam not playing as well as normal took that away.
You're overreacting to the bench play. Our best frontcourt players playing poorly was the thing that hurt us most tonight.
I didn't really see a difference in the "looks" that clemente and pullen were getting in the first and second halfs. Maybe I was just seeing what I wanted to see, but especially in the 2nd half (after we scored 7 points to tie it up) I saw us make a concerted effort to get it into the post and run sets where pullen and clemente were standing on the wing trying to get it inside. I know weren't going to just run pullen and denis off screens for wide open looks, but they should have probably taken it upon themselves to take more shots from 3.
And I'm not talking about bench points or anything like that, I'm just talking about productive minutes. There is no reason JHR can't come in. None. And McGruder prolly needs to see the floor, especially when we're (a) playing zone and (b) can't buy a bucket. Dude comes in and gets 7,000 rebounds in like one play.
ku's very good. wasn't expecting to win or anything, but in looking at the game that's what I saw.
