came into this thread all amped about bananas, only to find out it turned into some weird pie thread. to the original post: bananas are awesome. come with their own wrapper that you can throw out the window and not even feel bad about it (take the sticker off first, duh).

I throw banana peels in front of the cars/bikes behind me.

If your banana is stringy, then you aren't peeling it correctly.

Bananas are the one food you buy where you say "okay I'm going to buy you now, but I can't really even think about eating these for a couple of days."  Half the time I forget about them and they turn all mushy and brown.

A European-style banana holder helps prevent forgetting.

I can't eat a banana that is starting to get brown spots.  I only eat them if they are completely yellow.  Somebody told me that they aren't ready until they start to get a couple brownish spots but that seems gross.

It is gross. That's when it becomes more sugary and loses it's nutritional value. That's why brown bananas are great for banana bread. It's also why they're great for fatsos.

it's true.  a ripe banana is going to have some brown spots and quite possibly some fruit flys in close proximity to the banana holder.

fruit flies could possibly be nesting on said banana holder, inspect carefully.

Pro tip: Cutting up bananas and placing them on whole wheat cereal topped with splenda is a fantastic choice for those of you looking for healthier options! I know this cause I use to be fat in high school!  :lick:

Well, this is all going to make my MOAP2.5 dessert purchasing very difficult.

FYI, I don't eat dessert.  Just drink it.

Serious banana question though:  Can smoking the peels really get you high?  My best friend's step brother from Nova Scotia asked me to find out for him.

those are not ripe, do not eat.  search house for world's deadliest spider/fruit flies, dispose of accordingly.

love bananas and everything that has bananas in them/are made in honor of bananas.

banana flavored/shaped runts candy?  love them.

only flaw of bananas is that they go bad very quickly.  other than that, there are no negatives of bananas.  except for the deadly insect thing.

Bananas are fantastic, and anyone who disagrees is probably too busy stuffing their fat faces with something unhealthy and fattening.

On an episode of Mr. Wizards World he showed this trick where you could cut a banana into slices while it was still inside the peel.  I tried it out on my cousin. End result:  Mind Blown.

If you really wanted to be healthy - you would cut out all processed crap; and splenda is as processed as it gets.

But anyway - I wanted to post in this thread that my mom has always made & ate:
Banana & mayonnaise sandwiches.

Has anyone else ever heard of this?   Sounds rough ridin' disgusting and I refuse to try it.
