Sean was the associate HC last year, the goemawtards had a field day with the promotion. And having the special teams POW is a better gauge than having the OPOW or DPOW. For Lockett to have his big returns, he needs to return teams to execute well. Cantele hitting 2 clutch FGs is a lessor indication but still and indication that the STC is doing a defcent job. Sean has certainly done a good enough job so far to validate his hiring/promotion/whatever it is.
really. Big 12 STPOW is still a good gauge for a coach when no one else in the conference does anything spectacular & someone does their job & makes a couple of field goals while another kid gets a couple of decent returns. Jesus, someone is going to get the notoriety. And we did get Big 12 STPOW last year on a couple of occasions... even while competing with 11 other schools unlike 9 this year.
If you can't admit that a defensive coaching hire would have been more beneficial to this team than I don't know why I'm even arguing with you.
We were solid in Special teams last year, we've been solid in special teams this year.
Associate head coaching positions have nothing to do with either statement above & special teams coaches likely don't have much more to do with it either.
If you want my honest opinion, it has more to do with recruiting & not saving your most athletic players and keeping them off of special teams.
