I'm right here.

You're a big man.  I've never seen you one time make a strong opinion before a contest.  But you like to bite at the ankles afterward.

what happened, The Manhatter?  did we totally get outschemed in the 2nd half?  seemed like we got annihilated at the point of attack and in the pass protection game.  we couldn't protect our QB and Landry basically was having a picnic in the pocket on a beautiful fall day.

Seems really simple to me.  Any team that has a solid pass offense and a really good defense is going to eat us alive.  Our offense works as a piece of our defense by playing keep away.  When our offense gets shut down, their offense takes over and just passes all over us.  Rinse, repeat.  Then we get behind and start having to pass the ball, which we suck at (both QB and O-Line) anyway, much less when the D knows we're going to do it.  Things just snowball.

OU is the best D we'll see this year so I would imagine OSU won't get that ugly if we can limit turnovers.  They'll probably beat us, but their D isn't that good so we should be able to hold onto the ball and run the clock.  I think we actually might have a shot if we can get at least one more turnover than them.  In short, if both teams play to their potential, it's going to come down to winning special teams and the turnover battle.  I know that sounds crazy, but that's how I see it.

if it's so simple why did we kill them in the first and get killed in the 2nd half.

Because we did a pretty fair job of playing keep away, weren't forced to pass.

We didn't really kill them, we just hung with them because we were able to break a couple big runs.  When the run stopped working in the second half, that's when things got out of hand.  We have a couple 3 and outs that they easily turned into TD's for them and then we're playing from behind and have to start passing.  The rest is history.  Again, if good passing teams can find a way to stop our running attack, it turns into a nightmare like it did on Saturday.  The difference is, I don't think OSU can stop our rushing offense...unless we put the ball on the ground.

I certainly don't expect to win, but it probably wouldn't surprise me as much as most people and I think it's going to be closer than most people think.

We could also get our asses handed to us again.  Who the eff knows.  It just seems like with our style, we can hang with any team that can't stop our run.  If OSU finds a way to stop our run game, it's gonna make the OU game look like a nail-biter.

They just kicked our ass.  yes, they out-schemed us but....but they simply have better players, athletes.  They were focused and brought their "A" game.

They're not 41 pts better but they're better.

Our inability to play man with our safeties have them sitting back and OU was patient enough in this game to take dink passes and let their athletes make plays.  It's scheming to pop it over Brown consistently (given his responsibilities to the run game) but it's a talent issue to have so much room over the top because we can't cover man.  There were holes everywhere.  The OLB were very poor helping in the flats.  I didn't mind that we didn't get much pressure because nobody has and OU still hasn't rolled quite like that.

But plenty of that was just really poor play by KSU.  We're not THAT good where we can play that way...just can't do it.

The quickness of their DEs against our OTs was a huge, huge issue.

Snyder really has to make a concerted effort to develop a passing game over the next few years or his program isn't going very far.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

We need to recruit speed in the secondary more than anything. I'm tired of getting torched with the pass. The no blitz, never play man, always play a soft zone scheme is largely to blame, but we really don't have the athletes to do much else. Until we get safeties who are good in pass coverage, we will continue to get torched by the best offenses in the Big 12.

Last year our issue was the run.  Teams killed us on the run, and could have killed us in the air, but didn't have to because they could count on 7 yards a play on the ground.  If our pass coverage can improve as quickly as the run defense did between this year and last year, we'll be in good shape.

Fixing a terrible defense takes time.  Malone and Zimmerman will be nice to have back next year.  Hopefully we can get a little more juco help.

HBCK's arm figures to be part of the foundation of an elite passing attack.

True. If I had to choose between being able to stop the run and being able to stop the pass, I would choose the run every time. That said, we will continue to get blown out by teams like OU unless we get more speed at safety and corner. We are at the point where scheme cannot fix our problems. We need somebody to go out and recruit quality defensive backs.

I guess I would call the swing pass to the RB for OU a running game.  I mean, basically, any pass play that was there was wide open.  Especially the swing pass to the backs... literally a 5-99 yard play every time.  It was terrible to watch.

Yes, too bad he never actually did it.
