Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

I'm assuming this includes the +3 TO they were against OU, i just saw that and OU still had 600+ yards of offense to KU's 250ish.  that's just flat out gross.

sorry manhatter but there are some games where you just throw out the numbers and line up against each other.  the dillon's is one of those.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

but these rankings are for ku's defense, so we are more concerned with gtech's offense, which is not pedestrian.

You're right, G Tech's pedestrian D is really skewing these defenses rankings for KU's defense.

I want rough ridin' stats that are not cumulative.  As in, total yardage bla bla bla, which doesn't mean crap.  I want "per play" stats, which are more meaningful.

KU gives up 7.64 yards per play (#120 in FBS), more than .6 YPP more than #119.

KU gives up .66 points per play (#120 in FBS). The national average is .37 and the Cats give up .30.

Last year's terrible K-State defense gave up 6.4 YPP and .42 PPP.

while it's obvious KU has played some great offensive teams it is rather apparent they don't put up the kinds of numbers they did on KU vs. everybody.

Ga Tech had 413 yards at NC State, 386 vs. Maryland, and 296 @ Virginia....not exactly murderer's row.  Ga Tech's offense is solid but it isn't insane...it's ranking was built off the three horrible teams they played in the first 3 (incl KU)

OU managed 310 yards vs. Florida State

Okie Lite pulled Weeden and a number of other starters in the 1st half against KU "skewing" their stats.  But OSU struggled to throw the ball vs. Texas (420 yards total) and struggled for a half against aTm before finally accumulating 480 yards.  But they were held in the 30s scoring at both Texas schools.

Yep, they've faced some good offenses but defenses not as good as ours have put some limitations on those explosive offenses.  KU, on the other hand, had 11 corpses on the field.

Those KU teams were not good, but both were much, much better than this one.

KU's defense made some significant improvements last week.  The coaches simplified the play-calling, and the players responded to it.  We'll see if that improvement carries over into this weekend.

I, for one, was very impressed with our little brother's ability to "compete" with a disinterested OU squad in the first two stanzas...  Unfortunately, Stoops put a foot up their collective asses at half and it wasn't pretty in the second half.

the goal-line stand b4 halftime was pretty awesome. Reminded me of a certain brotherly kansas team.  ;)

I feel like OU really shot themselves in the foot and still won by 30. Kicked a lot of field goals.

these numbers remind me of seeing ku player photos and thinking, "those dudes really don't look like football players."
