Kansas State leads the Big 12 in total defense by almost 25 full yards per game, and are second in the Big 12 in scoring defense, which ranks 15th nationally.

I'd normally be pretty sarcastic and pessimistic, but Baylor and Missouri are pretty salty.  Miami has a home run back and a talented (if not inconsistent) QB.

This D is pretty legit.  They're Top 35 in yards per play, and when you factor in that we've faced Hurricane RG3, that's pretty good.

We'll probably have some skewed numbers after OU and OSU, because they're just so good, but I think we'll end up with a top 35 D this year.  Not bad.

Interesting to note that Baylor (2), Miami (9), and Missouri (14) are all in the Top 15 for yards per play.

Miami averaged 7.1 Yards Per play (+0.3), Baylor averaged 6.9 (-0.9), and Missouri averaged 4.9 (-1.7).

So, at least in conference play, we're forcing really good offenses approximately one yard less per play than average (or more).

As a side note, on Miami, the first two games of the year against Maryland and OSU, they were down a lot of players due to the suspensions.  Since they got nearly everyone back, they've averaged 7.1 yards per play against KSU, 7.6 yards per play against Bethune-Cookman, and 8.7 yards per play against VT.  So, if you take the first two games out and factor in the last three games for them, they average 7.8 yards per play, so we would have them (-0.7) as well.

as the season unfolds the pattern emerges that our D has held some good offenses to well below their averages in ypc, ypp, yac yards, and points.

I'm still thinking that maybe Miami, Baylor, or MU are overhyped P.O.S. smoke and mirrors..BUt nope, Baylor just put up video game numbers on ISU. Miami looked just fine in all 4 quarters vs. VTech...and MU put up 500+ on Oklahoma. Time to buy in.

It probably also helps that their offenses don't get any chance to get into a rhythm (no huddle)....because The Chamber and Co. hogs the ball for 70% of the game. That is not an exaggerated number.

Snyder is so old school that his team actually plays with cliches. "The best defense is a good offense".

Baylor and Missouri still lead the league in rushing offense in ypg.
