Do they understand that the KU AD is a huge KSU fan and won't exactly hire a homerun for a school he is basically hoping to leave for KSU as soon as possible?

Do you realize that Zenger went to grad school at KU and that KU has been his dream job for a long, long time?

Absolutely.  And John Currie won't take a job unless he views it as a life long destination.

 :jerk:

Zenger pined for this gig and settled on yours.  Fact.

KU has a larger athletic budget than K-State and wins national titles in men's basketball.  It's a better job.

lol.  13-1

KU's entire athletic budget is dedicated to installment debt courtesy of sweet lew.  No cash flow to do anything but pay bills.

Which house would you rather have?

House 1:  $1,000,000 value with $900,000 mortgage.

House 2:  $950,000 value with $50,000 mortgage.

Since BMW is your stereotypical paycheck-to-paycheck squawk, tells friends how much money he makes a year, brags about non-existent trust fund, I'm guessing he'd select House 1 despite how obvious it is that House 2 is the better choice.

KU is a bigger school with a larger alumni base and more money.  We are the school that wins national championships.  That being said, there's something unique about being the underdog school that still finds a way to win and compete at a high level.  Embrace it.

KU has the worst athletic department in the conference right now.  the fans don't show and are poor.

Zenger was the best they could get, even though he has his eyes on the prize in Manhattan.

Per the financial documents that ku sent the NCAA, had ku not received over $3.5 million dollars in institutional support, ku athletics would have finished the last year measured over $2 million in the red.

Accounting types are standing by to pick apart ku's next financial report to find those juicy little gems ku's accounting firm likes to tuck away in the notes, like owing millions of dollars to campus entities like parking services . . . which according to certain folks has caused significant financial strain for those "creditors".

KU has the best men's basketball program in the conference and just won a BCS Bowl a few years ago.  K-State is the only program in the Big 12 with no national titles in any team sport.  Next.

KU has spent tons of money on facilities over the past several years.  There's nothing wrong with maximizing profit.

KU won a BCS bowl?  Man i hope that coach is rewarded well.  Must be an amazing coach who deserves to be there for a long time.

"maximizing profit" is not owing various campus entities truck loads of money for services performed, or needing every dime of the student fees and direct institutional support to avoid a $2 million dollar plus hole in the annual report.

One thing that really stuck out to financial types reviewing ku's last annual report was the strange way ku athletics accounted for assets or more interestingly what they called an asset.   According to those folks (not me), ku counted facilities as an asset, which is strange since all facilities are technically the property of the state of Kansas.  I believe AFH might still be considered a national guard armory (which is how ku stole the money to finance it because Phog Allen was so pi$$ed off about Ahearn Fieldhouse . . . again, just another thing that happened at K-State, that drove behavior at ku).

When was the last time you went to Allen Fieldhouse?  There are a ton of assets built into the place now... including the new Hall of Athletics.
