Then Katz tries to get all edgy and put guys like Andrew Smith, Hollis Thompson, Chace Stanbeck, Toure Murry, and dudes from Fla Atlantic and Long Island his "almost" list.

I wouldn't even let that ish stress me out.  If he does what he is supposed to there is a bigger prize than some wooden award.  I'm mean in comparison how many off these know it alls guessed that KSU football would be 4-0 at this point.

No stress here, just pointing out what most of us around here already know, Gruds is a Top 50 player nationally.

I doubt he personally could care less, just giving credit where credit is due.

And I believe you are correct, if he plays up to his potential and everybody can follow his lead, there are far bigger prizes waiting down the road.

2. Rodney McGruder, G, Kansas State

Comment: Overshadowed by the scoring of dynamic guard Jacob Pullen and the erratic play of enigmatic big man Curtis Kelly, Rodney McGruder quietly excelled last season in a supporting role. The athletic 6-foot-4 junior will have the chance to improve on last year's 11.1 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game and 40.8 percent three-point shooting as the centerpiece of Kansas State's revamped offense next season.

3. Kyle Weems, F, Missouri State
Comment: All the well-deserved hype Creighton's Doug McDermott received this offseason makes it easy to forget that he's not the Missouri Valley Conference's reigning player of the year. That honor went to Weems, who averaged 16.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocked shots in leading Missouri State to the regular season conference title as a junior. It will be tough for Missouri State to achieve those same heights as a team after losing four starters and its head coach, but Weems is respected enough that Kansas, Kansas State, Oregon and Cal each tried to woo him away this past spring.

Yeah, don't forget we were also reportedly recruiting transfers George Goode(L'ville, chose Missouri) and Eric Wallace(DePaul, chose Seattle) with seemingly no ships available.

Weems is clearly the best player among that trio. I guees it just goes to show that no one is safe from being Franked at any given point from March thru September(sometimes even before that) and that possibility becomes even greater when a proven talent like Weems could be added to the roster.

When will the world learn that Gruds is a 3???

I must admit it took awhile to come to that realization myself.

"15. Rodney McGruder (6-4/205, Jr.), Kansas State
The versatile McGruder went 69-of-169 (.408) from 3-point range and led the Wildcats in rebounding (5.9) last season. He also averaged 11.1 points per game. McGruder should score much more often this season now that Jacob Pullen has ended his college career. "

Rivals has him 1st team all big 12 here...

MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER: Kansas State G Rodney McGruder. Although he was overshadowed by Pullen, McGruder came on strong during the second half of the 2010-11 season. Now that Pullen has departed, McGruder could really blossom as Kansas State's go-to scorer. The Big 12 coaches picked Texas' J'Covan Brown ahead of McGruder on their preseason all-conference team, even though McGruder averaged more points (11.1 to 10.2), shot for a higher percentage (.439 to .406) and averaged more than twice as many rebounds (5.9 to 2.2) last season.

Not a bad distinction for a player in a program that is supposedly in decline.

Quote
All-Conference Team (key stats from last season in parentheses)
G: Rodney McGruder, Kansas State (11.1 PPG, 5.9 RPG) – McGruder was not a focal point for the Wildcats last year, but that figures to change without Jacob Pullen. He shot just under 41% from three last year and was one of their better defensive rebounders.

Quote
Predicted Order of Finish
8. Kansas State (5-13)
Without Jacob Pullen, the Wildcats will have a tough time scoring and it will start with taking care of the ball better. They were 254th nationally with a 21.6% turnover rate last season, but if they can cut down on those their offensive rebounding (fifth nationally in 2011) should be enough to overcome some poor shooting. Rodney McGruder and Will Spradling, each of whom shot over 37% from three, will be counted on to supply offense.
