USB 3.0, kind of pointless right now.

k, i read that external hdd transfers can be slow so i wanted to make sure and give it the most bandwidth i could.

the whole reason why i am dealing with this is because my router (airport extreme) has decided to only assign one IP address at a time. so i can't hit the internet with more than one device at a time.  on the 2nd device, i'll get a "Self-Assigned IP Address"
Have you attempted to troubleshoot this issue?
Where did you get that overnight bag?

I bet your DHCP range is set to like...one number.

Check stuff in the DHCP settings.

If that doesn't work try assigning a static IP to the second device. IP address could be something like 192.168.1.45, gateway to 192.168.1.1 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

i'll take a look at that tonight.  its hard to troubleshoot because i get into the router and lose my internet connection so i can't research while i'm working on it.

I have a router thingy question. I bought a middle version router at best buy. Netgear prob $65? I dont get that great of signal up in my bedroom even though it said I should on the box. Should I buy a booster thingy, or a new, more powerful router thingy?  I also want the least amount of cancer these thingys are probably giving me.

Thanks

Try changing the channel in the router interface. Should be 1-11 or something like that. There might be interference on one of the channels that is hurting your signal.

What does that do?  I just want to be able to bbs in bed?  So I shouldn't get a thingy to boost the signal, I should just get a dual band one and this will fix everything?

I may.  I have a single band N but it gets all jacked up when we are streaming on our WD and both on our laptops.
