ok folks, I am looking to upgrade internet. currently think I have the "up to 250 mbps" cox plan.

options:
1) nothing continue to pay $180/mo for ok not great internet
2) do something to upgrade service in home for xbox streaming etc. router? I'm a moron.
3) starlink???
4) gigablast for $200+/mo

Gigablast is $92.49 a month plus $13 a month for Panoramic WiFi.

Need to know about your router situation first, because 250 should be more than enough. (I'd heard rumors of certain Speed Daemons on this board opting for a whopping 2 GIGS, but in my view that's not necessary unless you're transferring large amounts of data.)

I need to call them, my wife is the account owner so I am not actually sure what we are signed up for, I just guesstimated based on their posted cost on website.

I have Cox gigabit/blast whatever and I had to upgrade my router to get value out of it as my old one constrained the speed quite a bit.  I have data caps that I rarely hit, but occasionally do between working from home and doing all of my TV streaming.  I'm typically between 600-800 Mbps download speeds.

Problems identified:

1) slow internet
2) old router/modem
3) paying too much

Steps taken to correct:

Bought a new modem (thanks for recommendo chicat!)

Bought a new router

Upgraded to gigablast and cancelled other stuff

All problems resolved
