In the market for a new (used) SUV, crossover.  Jeeps have been great, but in my experience with two different grand cherokees, something is broken all of the time.

Want one of the cool looking Nissan SUV's.

That's exactly what I was leaning towards.

Thinking about an '08 Cadillac CTS (4wd).

Looks very elite.

My 08 Pathfinder is starting to a have few issues (hatch struts wearing out, squeaks and rattles, etc) that my previous Acuras and Toyotas did not but I still enjoy it.  It is a good compromise of a  bigger truck feel with a smaller size that fits in garage, easier to pak, etc.  Have over 80,000 on it and have not had any big issues.

Minivans are fun to drive. I never really understood the negative stigma.

So, i've never driven a standard in my life, but they are cheaper. Seems like they would be more "fun" to drive, too. Do you think the dealer would mind me learning on a test drive, or would they frown upon that?

I prefer driving a stick.  I had to stop buying them because my wife is incapable of learning how to drive one.

Surely someone you know has one. Maybe your wife or friend could test drive? They are way more fun to drive and get better mileage, too. Go for it!

My first two cars were standards.  Liked them at the time.  Will never go back.  I want to be as disassociated from the driving experience as possible.
