Have you guys ever done a Video interview? It's like, recorded and a computer asks you the questions. I'm doing one before work tomorrow. I'm interested to see how this thing goes. Hmmm....

That sounds weird. Never heard of it....so it is just some standard questions? It can't really follow up based on your answer, can it? Unless it is like one of those make your own adventure books. LOL

if they don't have the time to have an actual person do the interview, it's not worth giving 50% in that interview

It's weird, because I applied w/ this company a couple of months ago for another position and I came in and did a face-to-face with them. You can record your answer, delete it if you don't like your answer, and record it again. It takes about 15 minutes. I don't work till noon tomorrow, so I'll probably do it before work. It's an up and coming company out of San Fran that just posted up shop here, downtown. It should be interesting.

They are probably not really going to delete your answers and then they will keep track of how many times you re-did your answers and evaluate you that way.

A few things to keep in mind:

-Make sure you take the test questions and watch your responses.
-Confirm that your recording volume is good so we can hear you
-Each question will give you some time to prepare your answer, when you're ready click record.

i mean i guess if you arent good with interview questions it could help, but it could also give someone who wasnt prepared an advantage

also how do they know that the person actually talking is the real one?  like there could be people that could do interviews for you and you just pay them by the minute or something

But it is a video so they would know it wasn't him if he showed up at the job later...

Far more awkward than a regular interview.  You don't realize how much you rely on the interviewer's reactions as you answer their questions.  I wouldn't sweat it too much.  If they like you, you'll get a real interview.

I did one a few years ago Wacky and it was awful. Watching pre-recorded video questions and then video recording your answer to submit back seemed like a waste of time and gave me an negative perception on the company that wanted me to interview in the first place.

have ms wacky video herself asking you some general interview questions and practice before you do the real thing, just so its not super weird and only less weird when you actually do it.

I will. I would work as a corporate recruiter and travel to college fairs to talk to people about the company. It would fit my background very well. Here goes nothing.

Oh man, I hope you get this job. I cannot wait until the subsequent thread on gE reviewing the hijinks and such that ensues.
