I'd like to pose a question to you Tortuga, and that question is this: Are the National Championships that KU won had the refs not sucked so badly, so they actually didn't win them-

a) worth more than their Helms titles
b) equal to their Helms titles
c) worth less than their Helms titles

LOL . . . old Ted Owens and his straight from the peach basket days end of game, run a baseline screen and beg the refs to call a foul when the defender plows the screener over play . . . OMG

My god, if it weren't for the fact that WSU won that game, Smithson should have been fired on the spot for not understanding that Ted Owens had been running that same play in those situations since Moses parted the Red Sea.

As far as I know, not one of those issues resulted in a rule change, or a procedural change on things like how teams were selected for bowls. I can think of 3 instances right off the top of my head where things happened to K-State and praise be to Allah the rules were literally changed the next year because of what happened.

First off,

great question 'clams. GREAT QUESTION! I would have to think that by virtue of those prospective National Championships being more recent than the Helms titles they might have some increase bbs'ing cache. So at first blush, I'd say "worth more."

Second blush? Well, that's easy. It brings to mind a great Kansas saying during pheasant hunting (Ku football) season. One in the hand is worth two in the bush. Using basic stoichiometry, we can easily see that:

Hand: 2 helms titles Bush: 4 NCAA Tourney Titles

Well, just whatchya gonna do, squawk? Any normal person would take the shot at 4 NCAA Tourney Titles. But guess what, squawk?

Most knowledgeable fanbase in america. We are blessed to have them around. It is a difficult place to play as a referee mostly because the fans often know the rule book betterthan they do. All in all, squawks are gonna boo like squawks are gonna boo.
