I don't get the point of keeping the fish. I'm all about that catch and release.

Caught a mess of white bass at Hillsdale yesterday. Was fishing off the rocks on the west side of the s gardner rd bridge.

I got super excited when i hooked this drum, thought i had a massive bass or crappie. But nope, just an ugly drum.

How does white bass eat compared to crappie?

Bigger filets and "meatier". Not as good as crappie but better than catfish.

The white bass eats a much healthier diet, whereas the crappie eats...well...

Recommendos on lures for catching white bass in murky water? We've had a lot of rain in SCK lately?
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I caught these on my standard 1/8 oz jig head with a white grub worm thingy on it.

When I was at hillsdale yesterday the east side of of the bridge was super murky and filled with driftwood. I went over the the west side and it was significantly clearer (More clear?). It definitely helps to find a spot where the water is clear but I used to catch them at rocky ford all the time and the water there was never clear.

Standard guide for fishing is Clear water = Darker/more natural looking lure. Murky water = Brighter/more artificial looking lure.

So we have had a fishing thread on a Kstate sports website for like 4 years now but no one has fished with any current/former players? Well that just changed.

Went fishing with my GF's family on the 4th out at Cedar Lake and Reggie Walker was there (Married to GF's sister). I snagged 5 bass but reggie got skunked, had one hooked then lost it on about 4 ft from the shore.

All in all it was a great 4th of july morning.

Catch and release is the best way. Jeremy Wade would be proud.

Anyone here ever stocked a farm pond?  Need to make this fishable in 3-5 years.

Had a pond when I was a kid.  The local feed store had a vendor that came through a couple times every spring and sold/stocked fish.  Maybe check w the local feed guys

Ks dept wildlife and parks recommends 100 largemouth bass 500 bluegill and 100 channel cat fingerlings per acre of pond.    Maybe throw in a few pounds of fat head minnows the first year.
