I've cooked on a Good-One...they are nice, but over priced.  Chris is a hell of a guy though.  Use his lump all the time.
If you are going the pellet pooper and want the best, go with a Fast Eddy...that will give you plenty of space.
Yeah, burnt ends off a Wagyu isn't a good idea...too much delicious fat.  I usually buy cases at a time from Sam's (Certified Angus).  Piss...have you been to RD?  Haven't been there myself, but heard it is pretty nice.

RD?

i need to just stick with the egg but the cooking surface just makes it so much more work for big parties like i had this past weekend.  that's when i decided to start looking around.

Restaurant Depot.
Seriously, if you are looking for rack space and don't want to pinch the wallet, check into a UDS.  I've built over 20 of them and do a variety of options on them... KC Can Crew had a couple of them for sale at The KC BBQ Store, but wanted $650 for them...  With limited skills, you can build one for ~$100.  I sell mine for $300 with two 22 1/2" racks, a new Weber lid and a premium thermometer.  Plus, it is a great coversation piece.  Other than an Egg, you won't find a smoker that holds temps better in any kind of weather and uses less fuel.

Restaurant Depot.  Down in the bottoms area around Gennessee, iirc.  It's like Sams or Cosco for the restaurant industry.  Sells everything from food to equipt.  The guys I know that compete both say the meat quality is pretty good and less expensive than they get elsewhere.  You have to have a biz of some sort to get a membership, at least that is what I have been told.  Doesn't matter what kind of biz though.

If you're going to a restaurant supply store you should also pick up some cast iron stuff, a wok, and some sheet pans.

Dear Pissclams,
I was reading earlier in this thread where you were having a problem with cooking area on your BGE.  It also sounds like you really like cooking on the BGE.  It is my expert opinion that you purchase no less than two (two) more BGEs.  You would have at least three times the fun and at least three times the cooking space.  It would also be a great way to entertain guests as they wonder what in the world (I can just hear your guests now, "WHAT IN THE WORLD!!") you are doing with at least three BGEs.

Kitten_Mittons

P.S.
In case you didn't trust my math earlier in this post, I have attached the equation that I used.

3 x Fun = 3 times the fun

have a friend who offered me her large BGE that she doesn't use anymore.  not sure i want to go that route.  i think i might just stick with my bge for now.

Since I can't find the BGE thread, I'll just hijack this one.  How hot do the sides get, if at all?  Curious about using on a wooden deck, with a grill mat obviously.

They can get hot to the touch, but wouldn't worry about burning you house down or anything.

Cool.  I wouldn't let it actually rest against the side railings of the deck, but I would like to kind of push it into the corner a bit and not worry about it.
