Should I simply re-load the computer??
« on: June 18, 2011, 11:13:53 AM »
I have a 15 yr old Gateway desktop computer...yes the same computer I mis-spell words with on ALL my posts. I have the back-up disks and stuff I got when the computer was new...I think this thing has been running more slowly recently...the Question?? should I simply run those back up disks and see if they get my computer "back to 'out of the box' condition?"

if so should I save all of my passwords and stuff like that onto a paper so I can still get into the computer?? If this goofs everything up then I guess for Father's Day I will get a new computer??

assuming someone purchased the most elite pc available from gateway 15 years ago what are they working with?  how the eff is he even able to access gpc with that?  my guess is elwood's powering through the cyberworldspace with a 200mhz mmx with 65mb of ram.

I'd like to give you guys a little taste of what Gateway was like in 1996.  I think you'll see why elwood is more than a little attached to this piece of computing history.

I had a 97 gateway laptop that I took off to elite school.  It did not handle the Napster/Internet porn revolution and was a paperweight by 2001

Somebody should suggest ditching windows and just running everything off DOS.

:dubious: had to replace the mother board 2 times on my PB and still returned it and had to go with the Acer.

My computer worked great when I first bought it about 6 years ago. It's a Dell. Now, it runs pretty slow. Have any of you guys tried out that finallyfast.com? The commercial makes it sound like it's just what I need.

i just realized my favorite part of this thread title is that the author employed the use of the word "simply" as he discusses doing something he knows nothing about.
