Tell them that your wife makes all of the major purchasing decisions and you will have her call to schedule an appointment if she deems it necessary.
Where did you get that overnight bag?

I always take a Sharpie (taped to a stick) and put an "X" on the oil filter because it's really hard to get to on my car.  About a 1/4 of the time they don't change it.

Usually just do it myself.  Kinda like mowing the lawn-  sure, I could pay somebody to do it but I kinda like doing it myself.  If I do go to like a Jiffy Lube or whatever I tell those SOBs I'm not paying for crap except the oil change.  If they want to do anything extra, that's on them.

I change my own oil. Only time I revert to other people doing it is when I'm in a hurry to leave town and notice I'm like 2 grand over the milage limit. But really I like changing the oil in my car. I get to pull up the car in the garage and jack the front up, crank the radio to 10 on whatever old school rock station I find, grab a beer and take my sweet time with it. Make the neighbors think I'm a gearhead. I can usually pull this off, though not so much in my wifes compact suv. Btw, I never dispose of my oil in a timely manner. I'll just funnel the old oil back into the jug that came with the new stuff. Seriously, I got like 25 liters of used motor oil. If anyone wants to kill Wefalds grass PM me...

when they recommend something, ask yourself if you could deal with it failing while you're driving.  if it's engine related and you don't mind the possibility of a breakdown, you probably don't need it.  if it's brakes, wheel, or steering related, you might have to think about the failing while driving scenario for a bit.

You should also ask yourself if you're a conplete rube and they're just raping you for repairs that are not needed.  It happens more than you think.

Not true.  It costs about the same with a coupon.  Only difference is they don't use as good of oil that you can buy yourself.  Also, you can get your tires rotated for free with said coupon.

Loved how Jiffy Lube would have some dumbass mechanic, who can't even manage to brush his hair, show you some chart on his computer that illustrates why you need a new flux capacitor, fuel modulator, accelerator coolant, etc in addition to an oil change.

They are the Boiler Room of dumbass bad hair mechanic places.
