Omaha is basically the oldest of KC's lil bros.  Yeah, he can mess up Des Moines' hair but if KC catches him in his room he's going to get the wedgie of a life time.

Omaha's close proximity to Iowa bothers me, but if I had to pick one to live in, it would be Omaha.

Making my first ever trip to this fine city this weekend for the CWS. The only thing I know about Omaha is what Adam Duritz sings about.

Where should we eat afterwards?

where are you staying?  what is the group dynamic?  If you want someplace near the stadium go here:

http://www.upstreambrewing.com/

It is in this area:

http://www.oldmarket.com/index.asp

Will be an absolute zoo during the CWS.  Should be fun.  The Old Market area is the kind of area that KC needs but lacks.

Not staying anywhere. Just coming up early Sunday morning for UVA game at 1:00. Might stay for the second game. Looking to grab dinner afterwards. Probably somewhere close to the stadium.

you should go up the night before and watch sister school florida beat up on hated emaw rival texas. best as it gets.

Planing on going to the CWS this weekend.  Will give my own review of the area.

That might work.  If I do end up going, it will be because Csourk agrees to come with me, so that could be a pretty good little deal.

you can couch it or air mattress it if you want to though.

disclaimer to all of you:
sd lives a good half hour drive from the actual stadium

I've got a place to stay (on or near the Creighton campus), but thanks for the offer SD.  I'll definitely let you know if Csourky and myself make the trip.

UPDATE:  Not going.

ETP update:

Left KC around 6:30 and arrived in Omaha about 10:00. Took 75 from Topeka all the way up to Omaha. ETP, ETPwife and ETPin-laws waited in line for GA with a bunch of elite UVA and UNC fans. We were discussing the finer things in life when a bunch of smelly Nebraska fans asked us how our football programs were doing

Nice place, but everywhere I went there were Husker fans seeking validation for the city. Also, took your advice SD and went to Upstream. I had the IPA and Lager, both were excellent.

oh man, nu fans were worse than usual this year.  really getting into to cheering against TX.  we went down to the beer garden at the slowdown saturday but didn't have tickets.  just watched the games on tv and talked to fans.  when the Don't Mess With Texas / Matthew Mc. commercial came on for the TX Network they all got very angry and hilarious.  set of brothers from CT/NY that were about 75 years old sat by us and talked shop between games.  the older of the two had the scorebook and was scoring the games like you know someone that age and that into baseball would do.  very adorable.  also went to Blanc Burger in Omaha for the first time saturday.  Very impressive beer list.  going back next saturday after we golf.

yeah, saw plenty of tx fans in attendance. most had their heads held high with plenty of chest beating. a guy in a longhorns hat was shown on the jumbotron, and plenty of boos were tossed out there. very funny.

yeah, I thought topeka was bad, but after spending some time there Friday it turns out it's HORRIBLE! Omaha is a much nicer city and I appreciate that all the rif raf is kept on the east/north side
