Still think we should've tried to slip him in at the A&M game.  :dunno:

Florida's high school activities association still hasn't made a ruling on the Bahamas kid or Krop's season.

Box score from Monday tournament game Krop was dis-invited to because that uncertainty. Couldn't find any thing newer.

Can it just be a coincidence that #1 players from all around the United States and other countries are coming to play for Krop? Why doesn’t the Coach play fair and square and give other South Floridians the chance to excel instead of trying to be ahead of the other schools by cheating. Has the Coach forgotten what the
sport really means? How far will he go. How many years will this go on!!!!! He follows Frank Martin’s steps as they both coached Miami High. And guess who has been recruited to K-state by Frank Martin, Angel Rodriguez!
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

Agreed.  How many kids will he help get exposure and an opportunity at a 4 year degree that the kid could never have gotten without Art's help before someone says "enough is enough!"?

Krop's last ditch effort to save their season.

Probably have as good of a shot of winning the appeal as Curt does  :flush:

Fellas, unless this picture is photoshopped or he's playing in a pygmy pickup game, he's gotta be at least 6'7" right???  It looks unnatural, he's so much bigger.

Either way, a dude that broad will be able to make space in the paint, mitigating his "diminutive/diminuating) stature".

Question:  why does everyone have on the same sneakers???

The Krop High School Boys Basketball team is use to dominating on the basketball court, but the biggest down-to-the-wire victory of their season so far came Wednesday in a Miami-Dade courtroom.

Circuit Court Judge Spencer Eig granted a temporary injunction that will allow the team to compete in boys’ district championships that start Friday. Decked out in their purple and white basketball uniforms, the players punched the air in excitement upon hearing Eig’s decision.

“I think it would be fundamentally unfair not to let these kids play Basketball," Eig said before making his final ruling.

It’s a big win for the county’s top team, told a day earlier by the Florida High School Athletic Association that it could not advance to the district tournament because the school had failed to file necessary paperwork for star player Brian Delancy, a Bahamian national here on a student visa.

The association said the team would have to forfeit the 19 games in which Delancy played, essentially wiping out the team’s stellar 20-3 season.

Delancy, 19, said he was “too nervous” to sit through the hearing so he remained outside of the Miami-Dade County Courthouse awaiting Eig’s verdict before joining his jubilent teammates in hugs and high fives.

“I’m happy we get to play together as a team,” said Delancy, a senior guard. “What happened today was a big deal.”

For days there had been uncertainty surrounding the team’s ability to move ahead with tournament play, following a complaint made to the FHSAA questioning Delancy’s eligibility to play. The association – which regulates high school athletics throughout the state – requires schools to fill out paperwork for international students. Though Delancy had filled out the necessary paperwork to play at Miami Choice Academy last year, he ended up transferring to Krop this year.

The team’s head coach, Shakey Rodriguez, a veteran high school and FIU basketball coach, had said he was unaware of the paperwork.

In addition, the team’s attorneys argued in court that state law, as well as the school’s policy manual, prevents school staff from asking students about their immigration status.

“We’re focusing on Brian Delancy, but we’re forgetting about the. . .14 other boys who sweated and toiled in practice. . . really for some technicality,” attorney Alan Goldfarb said at the hearing.

The FHSAA countered that by not following the guidelines for international students, Krop was taking a spot from teams who had not violated any of the association’s policies.

“You’ll be pulling one team out and putting one team in,” FHSAA attorney Leonard Ireland told Eig. “If you pull out the team that’s number four, you’re denying them their right to play.’’

Eig said his decision was aimed at giving both sides more time for the “issue to be fully examined,” noting that the Tuesday FHSAA appeal hearing held via teleconference was “a very rushed hearing.”

The possibility still remains that if a follow up FHSAA investigation upholds the agency’s original decision, the school could have to forfeit any games it wins after the hearing, including the coveted State Championship title the team has its sights set on.

But that was a prospect too far down the road for the team to worry about, as players and their supporters celebrated Eig’s ruling.

When the hearing was adjourned, cheers and applause broke out and the team formed a huddle, congratulating one another and giving each other hugs.

“We have this fire behind us now to make sure we stay number one,” said Patrick George, 18, a senior point guard and the team’s captain.

When the news was announced at the Miami-Dade School Board meeting Wednesday, the audience of teachers and school administrators erupted into cheers.

“I celebrate alongside Krop Senior High School for the fact that this great team is going to be able to continue to play,” Miami-Dade schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said.

Still, Carvalho continued to express concern over the FHSAA policy of requiring additional paperwork for foreign students.

“If we do not ask students their immigration status for seven hours and 20 minutes a day, why should we be in the position of asking them before school and after school?” he said. “It really puts all of us in a precarious situation.”

School Board member Martin Karp, whose district Krop high is in, pointed out that the students learned an important lesson about the judicial process, too.

“Looking back, it’s an amazing experience that they will all remember,” Karp said. “Hopefully, they’ll continue to achieve success.”

Outcome seems pretty reasonable as presented, not following the whole ordeal personally.

Now we need Currie to see the light about a little :bigtoke: so we can  :woot:
