Nino clearly sucks.   One dunk in a 3 minute highlight clip?  What a stiff.

Did you see his elevation on some of the dunk attempts? :surprised:

Didn't know he was that athletic/explosive...

The D-Hosk comparisons are more real than ever.

Not sure where you've been but you obviously know nothing about talent evaluation.  The only way to truly evaluate a prospect is a highlight reel of nothing but dunks.  Or maybe you haven't been paying atttention.

For all you recruiting nuts there(just like me) and you need something to take your mind off the Lawrence/Sutton situation, Rivals will be releasing a reshuffled Top 150 for the '11 class tomorrow and a Top 100 for the '12 Class on Friday. This is per Bossi.

Scout update from Super 64 in Vegas:

"DeAngelo Harrison, SG, Franchize: Every class has a guy like this. Someone with supreme confidence who thinks he’s open once he crosses halfcourt. Old schoolers recall Ronald Blackshear and newbies think of J.T. Terrell. Like J.T., Harrison has the swagger and signature hair style. Harrison is a stone cold assassin who is empowered to score the basketball. He feels like every shot is going down."

"Marcus Smart, SF, Tex. Assault: There’s a respect level that exists out on the circuit for this kid. In June, he had hernia surgery. On Thursday morning he was clutching his stomach and something wasn’t right. However, that didn’t keep him out of action for long though we think he’s still hurt. What you see if what you get. Smart is mentally sharp, guards three positions, plays at least two of them on offense and effortlessly switches from creator to scorer as the situation dictates. This is the kind of kid you win college basketball games with."

"Marcus Smart drew Bill Self, Frank Martin, Scott Drew and an assistant from North Carolina."

Update lauds Antwan Space as a "live bodied SF" who is an excellent offensive rebounder but the KSU Cats were not listed as a school pursuing him at this point.

2 points:
1. If you're wondering who the heck Ronald Blackshear was/is(just like I was), see link below.

http://www.nba.com/draft2003/profiles/BlackshearRonald.html

2. Given Smart's reported playmaking ability, HBBIQ, and ability to defend all 3 perimeter positions, I wonder if we are recruiting him as more a PG or 2 guard than as a 3?

Pretty good writeup from Bossi about Sunrise Academy in Wichita. Doesn't mention any specific recruits we're after but does say our staff has been down there to check things out:

"All told, coaches from Kansas State, Kansas, Wichita State, Missouri, Marquette, Missouri State, Utah State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Colorado, Clemson, Iowa State, Iowa, Central Michigan, Western Kentucky, Oral Roberts, Memphis, Rhode Island and others have been in to watch Lindsted's squad work out this fall."

Northstar releases a Top 100 HS team list. An extremely inexact science ranking HS teams in this way but hey, it's something to look at. KSU connections/recruits' teams who made the list:T

11. Word of God - Raleigh, NC(T. Graham)
21. Travis(TX) - Strictly for Havs
28. Wichita Heights - You should know this
48. Grace Prep - Arlington, TX(J. Hornbeak)
60. ACD - Jacksonville(S. Smith and I. Baker)
73. Raytown South(Wainwright and Earl Peterson?)
81. Cedar Hill(Gip)

Great to see Rodriguez and Krop handle that level of competition with ease. Also had same amount of pts as Rivers but you have to wonder how much of Rivers pts came in garbage time(only had 7 at half per article).

FWIW, Cody Mann is a 6' 155 PG who transferred from Miami area Pace HS, ran AAU with Florida Rams. Linked his ESPN profile below, that lists him as '12, but I saw a couple articles saying he was a SR this year, so don't for sure what class he is.

Krop boys' basketball rolls over American

BY J.T. WILCOX

[email protected]

ROUNDUP
Krop's road back to Lakeland might not be paved with gold, but it is propelled by performances like Tuesday's 68-31 victory over visiting American.
The Lightning (3-0) used its length -- Krop has three players 6-7 or taller -- to dominate the Patriots in the paint. Krop outrebounded American 36-22 and blocked 10 shots.
Senior guard Brian Delancy, who played his sophomore season at Choice Prep, was one of four Krop players to finish with double-digit points -- recording a game-high 14 points and nine rebounds.
Ty Haughton finished with 11 points and four blocks, and Trevin Joseph and Darren Nagar added 10 points apiece.
Kansas State commit and 2009 All-Dade selection Angel Rodriguez finished with only four points, but logged less than 14 minutes of action as the Lightning, which defeated Austin Rivers and nationally ranked Winter Park last Saturday 76-55, held a 15-point lead after the first quarter and a 30-11 lead at the half.
• Krop 68, American 31 -- KRO (3-0): Delancy 14, Haughton 11, Nagar 10, Joseph 10, Mann 7, George 6, Rivera 6, Rodriguez 4. AM: Spicer 6, Bromell 5, Christophe 5, Riggins 2, Hope 2, Bueno 4, Dumeus 4, O. Foster 2, P. Foster 1. Halftime: Krop 30-11. Technicals: Delancy. Three-Pointers: Christophe, Delancy 2, Nagar 2, George 2, Joseph 2. Rebounds: Delancy 9. Assists: Rodriguez 6. Steals: Rivera 2.

Also,

Thomas Gipson had 19 points in leading Cedar Hill to a win over Arlington Lamar, which features Cannen Cunningham (high-major big man signed to SMU).

And then he followed that up with 10 points in a win over Fort Worth Arlington Heights.

In other news, Rodriguez didn't play in Krop's last game so he's prob. injured.

Krop beat Shane Larkin-led Dr Phillips 67-62 in double OT a couple days back, searched high and low for a game recap but couldn't find 1.

Anyway, pasted and linked below is some interesting msg boarding from some dude in C. Florida, has some very positive things to say about Rodriguez and Krop:

"Winter Park(Rivers' team) Vs. Krop.....Krop played a 3-2 match up zone...Krop has 3 guards they start all about 6'0 or under with 2 6'8 kids. So they go 3 out 2 in even on offense. WP had no answer. Krop dictated the entire game. They walked the ball the slowed the tempo, but when they saw they had a clear fast break, they pushed it and scored. Krop dominated WP inside, everytime WP drove to the hoop, it was 2 6'8 kids with arms up, and 3 guards going after the ball. Shakey is an amazing coach and he showed it. Angel Rodriguez DOMINATED...let me say this again...DOMINATED the game. The KState player really opened my eyes. Made WP literally run their offense from the half court line. Bailey never adjusted to the 3-2. Also, Krop averaged about 40-45 seconds per possesion. Shakey said before the game that he is fine with Austin getting 20-25...but he doesnt want Keel getting 18 or Williams getting 18 like they did against Montverde."

"TOP 10 PLAYERS I SAW THIS WEEKEND

1A. Austin Rivers-WP
1B. Angel Rodriguez-Krop   :emawkid:
3. Shane Larkin-DP
4. Steve Missi-Montverde
5. Wayne Martin-Providence
6. Tyrone Haughton-Krop
7. Joey De La Rosa-Montverde
8. Austin Keel-WP
9. Kasey Hill-Montverde
10. Patrick George-Krop"

http://varsitysports.orlandosentinel.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=8985

And finally, USA Today ranks Krop 8th nationally, 3rd among public schools(if you like to keep track of that sort of thing)
