Headed to Chicago tomorrow with Lady BR for her family Christmas and the Bears Packers Game.  Staying with her family tomorrow night and Saturday but getting a hotel Sunday since they live like an hour from Midway and we have an early flight home Monday morning.

I've never done it before, but I assume leaving your bags with the hotel at like noon shouldn't be too much trouble if they wont let you check in.

Where would you stay Sunday night?  First thought was use SPG points, but being a Sunday night the rates are dirt cheap.  Been looking at the W Lakshore.

Any tricks for checking in really early?  Games at 3:25 and would like to get a little bit of binging in beforehand.  Maybe even get dressed at the hotel if possible, driving in the car in full cold weather gear(25 degree game) isn't fun.

Where should we eat after the game?

In all honesty I think you'll save yourself a lot of trouble if you just stay w/ the parents another night and wake up 30 minutes earlier.

Think traffic into the city would be bad Monday morning for the 8am flight though?  Other thing is figuring out how to get my booze soaked ass back up there after the game.  Her grandma lives in like Huntley or something.  Not sure there is a train anywhere near there to get me to Soldier Field and to Midway.

Anyone have thoughts on trying to hit both LA and SF in a single trip?  Fly into one, out of the other.  Six days total.

It would be great. Set aside an entire day for the drive and take Highway 1 between Monterrey and LA.

Yeah, that works, too. It's a really nice drive, though.

we did this in september! it was awesome, but it was totally foggy the whole time and the only time i saw the ocean was when we climbed down the cliff to stand next to it.

and there was a bike race in the southbound lane which made cars pass in our lane around blind corners which was terrifying.

but it was still awesome.

Thanks.  Was on the fence due to drive time.  Now planning to stay overnight in SLO to break up the trip and also go to the beach which would surely get put on the agenda anyway.  Unless someone knows of a better place to stop along the way!

ate at Chi SPACCA on thursday.  was worth flying to LA just to eat there.  got the affettati misti, focaccia di recco, and the bistecca fiorentina.  the steak was a showstopper.

why would you be mocked for spending a lot of money?  something smells?
