I got married in Breckenridge and my kid is named after their (white people names?), so that's #1. I love Dillon lake too.

Yeah I was specifically thinking towns around skiing when I made that list.  I have really only been to Salida once, and it was for the Mumford Gentleman of the Road festival.  Which is a lifetime highlight, so Salida has a special place in my heart.  Did a lot of camping and rafting around Buena Vista too, so another great summer time area!

I rope Copper in with Silverthorne\Frisco\Dillon.  Copper as a ski resort is great, as a mountain town, summit co is kinda meh (other than Breck).   Estes is also a great summer spot!

and why just colorado?

I mean I just made a list of my favorite towns and grouped Colorado ski towns together as one. You can certainly make a different list. 🤷???

well Daris, why can’t you make your favorites list the way we would all make our favorites list?  Huh?

They are definitely neck and neck, but it's personal preference for me.  Summer camping trips put CB on top for me.  If this list is only about food and downtown activities, then yeah Aspen wins.

You can hike from one town to the other in a day and a half with an single night in a tent stay so im not sure I buy the camping part being better in cb. Also Aspen is closer to Maroon bells, etc and all that. Aspen is also only an hour from hot springs and crested butte is over 2. Also crested butte is broken up between crested butte and mt crested butte whereas Aspen is just Aspen. I appreciate the cb boner, but it sounds more sentimental than fact based to this unbiased observer.

Glenwood and Salida are both ok enough with stuff to do but both are 30 minutes from a ski slope so I’m not sure we should consider them ski towns. But…….they both would be the logical home bases for monarch and sunlight respectively, so maybe! 🤷???

Either way, neither should crack anyones top 5.

Sentiment definitely plays a part of my list.  What is your favorite CO mountain to ski?  I think it is Steamboat for me.

Rick Daris fast fact- I’ve been to cb and steamboat three times each in the last two years and have never skied either!!!!  :surprised:

Steamboat does rank #2 on my top Colorado ski towns list though. Great Main Street! Above average food selections! High end shops! The best hot springs (strawberry park) in all of Colorado! A second hot springs pool in town! The River to tube down in the summer! Wow!

Agree with all of that!  My family used to do ski trips (from Wichita) to Wolf Creek on spring break every year.  We switched it up to Steamboat once and never changed after!  They still make the trek every March, even though they have no kids with a spring break.

I overheard someone try and argue how much better Dallas was than Chicago and it sparked instant rage.

WTF are people doing when they visit Dallas? I’m a prime “Dallas short vacation” target. We went once & all I remember is going to a Stars game.

JFK stuff and Fort Worth stockyards? throw in a zoo and a museum and some barbecue and that's an OK family long weekend. :dunno:

"Hey kids this is the street where a president literally got shot and his wife had to hold his brains in his head. Wanna go take some pics?"
