Ben ji's parents have been rough ridin' living up the mid 60's retired traveling life since last fall when covid restrictions started lifting a bit. They have so much pent up travel energy its getting absurd.

Probably 5? Caribbean cruises (They rough ridin' love that crap) which they pretty much got for free just because they needed people on the ship. Most of the time they drove from KC to Miami or Galveston so add another 3+ days of driving for 6 hours then stopping at a town to hit up the casino's/breweries.

They also flew into Phoenix in early march, rented a car and drove around the grand canyon area then up to vegas for about a week.

My mom is currently on some river cruise in the Netherlands and keeps sending me pictures of tulips. My dad sat this one out to go out to the farm so my mom went with a friend.

They are going on an Alaskan Cruise sometime in July and then a Mediterranean cruise in November out of Venice that goes to Italy/Croatia/Greece.

If you can't tell they absolutely love cruises.

One time in Jan or Feb they finished a cruise and the day before they got off they were offered another free cruise starting the next day on the same ship but a different destination. Since they had nothing else to do they just took it and texted me "We got a free cruise, can you take care of the cats/birds for another week?".

incredible

https://twitter.com/davenewworld_2/status/1519174844700667904

people on twitter found that out a few months back and it was a comments crap show.

best explanation i saw was that it's a semi-concealed seniority bonus because the more senior flight attendants get preference in scheduling and can pick flights with a higher air time to ground time ratio.

I remember this bit of twitter outrage.  Seems something their union would have tried to fix a long time ago.

if they didn't like it.  but as a rule unions love rewarding seniority.

How do you get rid of all the diseases you get from being on a cruise when you get back from a cruise?

List is here. I did a quick count https://www.southwest.com/flight/routemap_dyn.html

Delta flies direct to MSP?

Phil, buddy. We're you not replying to this?

SW will always be the best option for going between random Midwestern cities that aren't hubs for any of the big 3
STL layovers, hard pass.

If you are flying to Midwest cities that aren't hubs, you're laying over in STL or Midway. All of those direct flights aren't to Midwest cities.

Do you already have to know how to play bridge or do you just learn when you get on the ship?

I was blending that southwest has a lot of directs out of KC that you don't have to layover in STL, not specifically "midwest" and other airlines to other midwest cities.  I don't frankly care which airline it is as long as I have a direct.

i guess SW flies nonstop from MCI to fewer rando cities than i thought. i kind of assumed you could fly nonstop to IND, CLE, SDF, etc

they have nonstops to the bachelor/ette party markets locked tf down tho:
LAS, BNA, MSY

Unfortunately, my primary bird is in the shop. The other one I lent out to Bill Self to do some phantom recruiting this week.
