I'm not expecting great restaurants with an all-inclusive but grading them on a curve.  I'd imagine a variety of decent restaurants is the best I can hope for.  We're going with another couple so there are some constraints that we're working with but I'll check some of these out.  We'll be out there for a week.

The DR is just simply amazing. The people there are great!

Can confirm. Our driver went 90 the whole way to the airport, passing cars going up hills on 2 ways.

Those weirdo car-tech startups that try to get you to take some stranger's car should have some opportunities to cash in.

Like three years ago I had two international counselors, two very pretty women from the UK tell me they were going to Chicago to get some guys Tesla, young dude like in his 20s, and driving it to San Diego. I was convinced they were either going to get chopped up or they were inadvertently running drugs. It worked out for them even though I'm still convinced that car had every hidden crevice loaded with X.

Another Kauai question. My friend got back from HI a month or so ago and the one thing he regretted prior to going was not thinking ahead with restaurant reservations. He said many places were still in limited capacity so getting a table was tough/impossible. Those that have stayed in Kauai, are there any places I should think about getting a reservation soon? I'll have kids so I'm not talking about anything really fancy, but I didn't know if there were some "can't miss" places that we should be thinking about. Any food tips are appreciated.

I went to barcelo bavaro Beach in the DR and it was everything I could imagine. I'm a pretty simple/picky eater but the on property restaurants were good imo but not amazing (the buffets are what they are though...). The beach is like a mile long and the buildings are only 4 stories so it's spread out and not crowded, which is my speed. Also only like 100 feet from room to the ocean. Clientele seemed to be majority south Americans and then us/Canada.

Patio view:

Been there before, it is pretty solid. Also went another time to Punta Cana literally 10 months earlier with my family and we stayed at an airbnb, both were quite fine.

The DR is just simply amazing. The people there are great!

All of this is true, wonderful people, holy crap drivers.

i just remembered you can golf 18 at Wailua and it's cheap AF bc it's a public course, and there are like 6 beach holes so it's pretty amaze value, scenery-wise.

my experience tells me that this is a one-off situation that may not have been handled well by any of the parties involved. but thank goodness that the family already has an attorney so they can get some of that sweet sweet lawsuit money off of their situation.

also if i'm flying with a child or anyone else prone to seizures, i'll prob not pack their medicine in the checked luggage.

I booked the Excellence in Punta Cana - seemed to have the most restaurants and also the private beach/adults-only side were nice benefits.  Now I'm about $3k in for a Wacky recommendation so it better be good or I'm going to him for my refund.

It’s a good choice. Food sucks but that’s the all inclusive experience.

yeah SW is the best of this because they're cheapest and most flexible. Plus you don't even need them if someone is 14! :sdeek:

(everyone else is 16)

I am thinking of heading to Europe late summer early fall if the EU moves forward with opening up. However, I wonder if there will be push backs against Americans?

I’ll be on a plane for the first time this coming Thursday for the first time since coming back from AZ when everything first starting shutting down last year.

airports are now complete warzones compared to during peak pandemic. if there were an upcharge for going to the "good" airport that mimic'd peak covid I would pay that fee.
