Go to disney world and have sd set up your whole plan with adding a day or 2 that has you driving to a beach on either coast.
Disclaimer: Disney World is expensive AF if you want to have a good time.

I’ve gathered that SF largely wants to self-PAK by water but also wants convenient options of some things to do to prevent FOMO and also to not have people looking at him crazy when he says he went to ______ but didn’t do any of the things they’ve heard about.

I think he should go to Chicago and stay in a nice place with a pool and that he can easily access the beach from and where he doesn’t have to plan anything, he’ll inadvertently do things just by walking around.

I should listen to you more. Remember when you told me to go to West Seattle for the Sub Pop 30 show when I was in Seattle for Pearl Jam? I was already thinking about doing it, but was prob going to bail because it seemed hard. Mrs SF and I went, got a baller seat at a patio bar overlooking the stage. Sat and Pak'd all day listening to bands, watching people that wished they had our seats, and staring at the ocean. That is my ideal vacation day. Kids ruin that though, so I have to reconfig a bit.

Mrs SF is madder than I am. I'm irritated that I have to pay for a resort (sort of) for a night to just check in and go to sleep, but whatevs. The flight I got rebooked to is actually better, it just gets there way later. Going to try and convince her to stay another night if I can rebook return flights and there is a spot at the resort. Its all fine though. I just sit at home by myself all day and like to yell at things on here every once in a while.

You should try contacting SW via Facebook Messenger.  I used it earlier this year to add my infant to our flight and it was super fast.

I have also used the text to customer service on a couple other things that has been way more helpful than sitting on the phone for hours.  For instance, we had to change our Maui flight 3 times during the pandemic (flying Hawaiian Air), and they were able to do everything over text.  Plus they respond immediately with a time estimate for when you will get a rep to text you back.  Then you can go throughout your day and just wait for the text.

I remember giving that wildly successful advice but not specifically to you.  El Chupacabra, right?

Yeah, cancel this whole thing, PM me some specific parameters, and I'll get draw up your new plans.  If you're pfizer-chip'd we can message using that too.

Update. I reached out via the Twitters. No idea why I didn't just do that initially. Apparently one of the flights is "no longer in service". I asked that specifically to see if I got bumped. Sounds like it is what it is. Mrs SF is still pissed, but I think she is underestimating how tired and awful the kids will be anyway by the time we get there with the time change. Its going to be midnight vs like 7pm in their brains anyway.

We rented an SUV for 8 days based out of the Bangor airport for our July Bar Harbor trip. Reserved it like 5 months ago. I was pissed that it was $600 when I reserved it. Well, if I wanted to make that reservation today it would be $2,500. lmao

Holy crap. I mean, we all knew it would happen. These companies are going to try and make 2020 money back ASAP. Its also really hilarious that pretty much everyone is going..."that is a ripoff.....here's my credit card". People don't give a eff right now and just want to do fun things.

Those weirdo car-tech startups that try to get you to take some stranger's car should have some opportunities to cash in.

I could use some recommendations for Carribbean/Mexico All-Inclusive this fall.  The priorities are good beach access and lots of decent restaurants.

I traveled for work this week and SFO was shockingly more full compared to when I traveled a little over a month ago. Had a 100% full flight from SFO to Boston and the pilot gave an emotional speech about how a year ago there were more pilots than passengers and he was so happy to see a full flight again and closed it with United was the first airline to return to profitability. (which really is kind of crazy). He got applause even with the awkward closer!

connected through Newark on the way back and the 777 was mostly full but they ended meals for Economy Plus (something they had just started for cross-country flights pre-pandemic). :jerk:

How long are you staying? I did like 4 nights at the Hyatt Cancun and it was wonderful but don't remember a huge variety of restaurants. Maybe you'd get bored over a week but not sure.

Excellence in the DR was an amazing experience. 7 restaurants, shows every night, games daily, all you can eat and drink. Badass beach as well. Rooms are$! Free porn channel too if you're into that kind of thing.  :fatty:

Like good on property restaurants as part of the all inclusive I assume?  I've never had luck finding that in any all-inclusive.

This thread seems to be a good example of how people are itching to travel again.

Personally, I haven't really even given it much thought. And the two fleeting thoughts I had were still about driving to remote places.

all of them I've been to (3) had a variety of "decent" options. I've actually had better Mexican food at lower end resorts in Mexico that aren't all Canadians and Americans visiting.

This year we’re just doing the in-state casino resort for a few days. All the kids want to do is swim anyways, so we reserved a pool side cabana next to the water slide for the whole time. We’ll do a blow out vacation next summer.

I went to barcelo bavaro Beach in the DR and it was everything I could imagine. I'm a pretty simple/picky eater but the on property restaurants were good imo but not amazing (the buffets are what they are though...). The beach is like a mile long and the buildings are only 4 stories so it's spread out and not crowded, which is my speed. Also only like 100 feet from room to the ocean. Clientele seemed to be majority south Americans and then us/Canada.
