going to seattle later this month, staying near Lake Union (Montlake).  any good restaurants/breweries in that area, and hikes close by that won't take a full day getting too and hiking (only there a long weekend)?  Going to Fremont Brewery for sure, possibly kayak on lake union, be down in Seattle at least a day.

All of those things are in Seattle, I’d guess within 5 miles of each other.

Are you going to have a car and what days of the week are you talking about?

Really, from what you describe, I'm tempted to say that your "hike" should be walking from your place to Fremont, potentially with getting in a boat of some form for part of that.  Pull up a map.  Other than hypothetically hiking way out in some real nature crap, the area you're talking about is the size of MHK.  You wouldn't need to be limiting yourself to places right on lake union or by fremont or so on.

yeah would like to get out of town and hike but bigger group when i was out there doing that last year, so not a deal breaker, i'm good walking around the lake and doing whatever.  weekend will be centered around booze and food.

This potentially would be good if you want to get out of town: https://trailheaddirect.org/  It takes you from local transit spots out to a few of the different trails I normally go to out east.  You don't have to worry about having a vehicle or paying to park it out there, and it'll keep you on whatever schedule you want.

Assuming you can walk over to the light rail station by the UW stadium and arena, you're pretty much set up for anything.

Fremont is good for non-touristy cool stuff, as is Green Lake and Alki Beach.

These people are my kind of crazy.

Yes, but the troll is a bit east of where all the main action is.

Still going to that museum and WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE for the three days in Tokyo

HERE'S WHAT WE DID

DAY 1:

Sweat our asses off getting our luggage to the airbnb halfway between Ebisu and Shibuya
Ramen at Afuri in Ebisu
Incredibly cool turntable bar in Shibuya called Jazz Blues Soul

Day 2:

Hokkusai Museum (enjoyed it more than expected!)
Takayshimi(?) Times Square food court for lunch, Tokyu Hands in the same building. (the food court sucked because it was like all take home and there was nowhere to sit)
sushi boat restaurant in Shinjuku
Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku (just amazing, mind blowing, etc.)
some interesting nine-course all-you-can-drink Japanese food that featured some weird cabbage noodle dish

Day 3:
Shinjuku Gyoen gardens
Some weird mountain climbing themed restaurant called Hutte
Takeshita street
A record store that also had a bar
Yakult Swallows baseball game (super fun, got trashed on the 350 yen beers from the beer keg girls but taking a piss was an ordeal because the seats were super cramped)
An incredibly shitty turntable bar called Grandfather's
A possibly shittier lounge with a cool view (DJamer Bar)

Day 4:

Yamante Art Museum (very close to our airbnb)
Hedgehog Cafe (one hedgehog had a really shitty attitude)
Random cocktail bar/curry place between Harajuku and Shibuya
Karaoke bar where they filmed the scene in Lost in Translation (SG Lounge)
Disc Union Record store (great stuff)
Flight home :-(

Overall:
Loved it
especially enjoyed walking between stations, like from Shinjuku Gyoen to Harajuku or Harajuku to Shibuya
People are absolutely kind and helpful even if they laugh at your dumb western face for committing a social faux pas
it was hot as eff the entire time, like instantly dripping sweat when I stepped outside
wish we could have had more dinners and lunches at random places
wish we would have gone to some of the terrace house boys and girls in the city restaurants
wish we could have gone to the country

damn sorry i missed this

it has been hot as crap

So, when I've traveled for work with SW my points accumulate right away on the website. Super easy. However, for some reason, Delta's doesn't. Another reason why they suck. I mean, I don't get it, at all! I'm having to call them today to see wtf happened a couple of months ago and why no points were added. Good grief.

Booking a hotel for February-ish through hotels.com.  Is there some app or something that will alert me as to when there's a price drop so hotels.com will match it?  Or is that something you have to monitor periodically on your own?
