Monterey/Carmel/Big Sur review:

- Diversity! Not just white people! (Only other ethnicity is Asians though). Told mrs Dave I was going to create a fatty’esque minority KSU sports fan Facebook page but for this area.

-  Point Lobos is great. Watched this sea otter bashing clams against a rock on its stomach for like 30 minutes. Seals, whales, dolphins, weird smelly ass birds, the works. Fell on my entire ass jumping from one rock to another during low tide. Almost went into the ocean into sea anemone city. Rocks were nice and grippy until this one wasn’t.

- Big Sur is CANCELLED! Like literally closed. Huge storm apparently came through and all trails are off limits. Pfeiffer Beach was cool though. That bridge everyone takes pics on for the gram was cool.

- Gary Player was on my plane. He sat in Coach on a shitty regional jet MRY - PHX. Tried to board in group 3 but he was group 8, lmao. Super nice guy. Old white people were absolutely hounding him in the airport for like an hour but he rolled with it. The one pic is this dude making him talk to his brother. Gary made up a story about how the dude was an elite golfer and won a bunch of money off him.

Confirmed global entry better than mobile passport. Much faster through immigration and through customs in special GE line at hobby last night.

Still had mobile passport loaded in case
Mobile passport suuuuuuuucks

Basically mobile passport had a much shorter line (only like ten people) than global entry so I thought I'd try it and by the time two people in front of me had gone through the global entry line was completely gone. I'd guess global entry got about 20x more people per minute through?

I guess it would be better than the non mobile passport//non global entry line but there were so many more agents working that line it was hard to tell.

Guess it depends a lot on the staffing. I flew through Customs with mobile passport in January. First in line and never saw another traveler from my flight.

With that said, I'd do Global Entry if I traveled internationally on a frequent basis. I had to wait in the regular cattle line after Customs for my connecting flight. No waiting in the GE line.

I'm pretty sure my friends took Wow to Iceland. Norweigan flies out of both SFO and OAK now to multiple destinations. I think the transatlantic fights are pretty popular.

It's hard to believe $99 transatlantic flights wasn't a sustainable business model.

I flew Condor from Austin to Frankfurt. Yes, that's an actual route! Or perhaps used to be.

I flew RyanAir from Liverpool to Dublin and it was possibly the scariest most cramped 20 minutes of my life.

I feel left out because I don't even know which airlines are considered discount for transcontinental.

I flew RyanAir from London (no, not LHR) to Basel for like $40. It was like flying in a giant, shared hostel dormitory. One dude had a cat.

I don't either. frontier doesn't fly those routes. southwest doesn't. allegiant doesn't. does spirit? jet blue does but I wouldn't normally consider them discount. or virgin. I assume virgin does but don't know for sure.

There's not many. Like I know there's one direct OAK-EWR flight a day on Southwest for example. And the rest have the stops or plane changes.

I've never taken one but I imagine the worst part about Southwest would be no AC chargers and you can only watch TV on your device

A330 Air France Chicago to Paris Business Class today.  Business class looks pretty vanilla on this thing.

Southwest and frontier definitely have transcontinental fights.

Southwest does not fly to other continents unless you consider Aruba to be part of South America, and consider Central America to be different from North America.  I am steeped in Southwest.

I think you're confusing transcontinental and intercontinental
