Naval history. http://www.patriotspoint.org/

Downtown market area is nice to walk. Good restaurants down there too.

Plenty of golf courses in the area. Nice beaches at Folly Beach and Isle of Palms.

Go to North Hills for higher end shopping/dining.
Lots of great restaurants. If you are staying near RDU, then go to Chop House for finer dining. Ruckus is good. (Cary address) for watching sports and unique? Dining.
If you end up not liking it, then there is a BWW right next to if.
TriBeCa is also good.
There are some really great restaurants in Durham.
Where are you staying?
Soccer fan? Check to see if State, Carolina, or the Railhawks are in town. Baseball? Then see if there are in games on the docket at the USA ball fields.

Great elite place to stay? The Umstead. A little more affordable but closer to the action while still being elite? Carolina Inn...walk to Franklin Street.

I don't party in the RTP area, so I may not be up on which area is the best for bars.
