I am planning a 4-6 day trip with my mom in July

MHK-->(1-2 days) Rocky Mountains(Grand Lake/Rocky Mt. Nat'l/Tabarnash)--> (2-3 days) Jackson Hole, WY-->(1 day) Ft. Collins-->MHK

Alternative trip:

MHK-->(1 day) Colorado Springs-->(1 day) Durango-->(2-3 days) Santa Fe/Taos-->MHK

Any recommendos on either trip would be great.

I'd suggest  MHK > Denver (from here day trip to Mt. Evans / Ft. Collins/Co. Springs) > Durango >MHK

I haven't been to Durango, but looked into it as our kid loves trains, and it appears to me unless you really love tourist shopping, more than a day and a half - 2 days is overkill.

Pole Creek is great golf course in the Tabernash area.  27 holes, incredible views.

My area is 40 min or so from an entrance to RMNP.  If you go through Boulder to RMNP, you can take Trail Ridge Road and that will give you amazing views. Mid July there is a Jazz Fest in WP.  Brings in a pretty good crowd but I don't think it is anything to write home about.  A great 3 hour hike on my property isn't too strenuous and gets you a good taste of the mountains.  7ish hour hike to the Devil's Thumb is fairly strenuous but will put you right on the continental divide.  Grand Lake will be about 80 degrees and sunny with no humidity.  Maybe worth renting a boat.  Chicat and ChicatGF would be willing to join you on any of these activities.  Even if you just go through Denver for a day we will join you for a meal.

Yes.  Will definitely stay two days or so in Tabarnash area and do day trips to Grand Lake/Winter Park/RMNP or other stuff close by.  We will def do dinner.

Green chili beer at CooperSmith's in Ft. Collins.  The whole Old Town area is tremendous for eating and drinking craft beer.

Santa Fe's old downtown is one of the great places in the US, I think.  Beautiful Southwest art everywhere.  Maria's is an amazing place to eat and sample from their ridiculous selection of premium tequila.  And, obviously, the place is Georgia O'Keefe central.

Look into Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs.

Would probably do at least one brew tour in Ft. Collins.

Good tips.  waiting on acsava to tell me more about Durango.

Have done and enjoyed Garden of the Gods.  Would go back.
we're doing the new belgium tour today.  Will let you know how it is.

probably depends on your guide, but NBB was one of the best brewery tours I've been on.    Lots of free beer too.

You could go to the stereo shop where Will Forte worked in the movie Nebraska.

you could go to the street where little asava mooned cars and subsequently got grounded. or the field where little asava threw snowballs at cars and subsequently got grounded.
