I have a funny COK story... In high school, I once took a girl there on a first date upon her request. Mexican food on the first date can be risky, but that's where she wanted to go, so that's where we went. She proceeded to order the chicken strips at COK.

Ok, so it's not THAT funny, but it's always the first thing I think of when someone mentions COK.

never had the cok chicken strips, how were they?

Ok, I guess. You'd have to ask her. Manhattan was a much different restaurant scene in 2002.

Taking Mrs. WonderMeal out in MHK in roughly one hour. Gimme some tips, gE.

Some parameters:
-Ate at La Hac already, so that's out. (I suggested going again, was denied)
-Probably somewhere on Poyntz?
-Have done Bourbon & Baker before
-She wants to drink a li'l bit

Are you in the mood for BBQ, pub food, or Cajun?

Kites. Why do people deny themselves the thing they need most.

Not Cajun. Maybe BBQ or pub food. Could also do something lighter?

Four Olives is open tonight. I would go there if you're in the mood for cocktails and a decent meal. I just finished up the special at RAB. It was a pretty decent French dip. They've also got some decent beers on tap right now.

Just reread and saw you want to stay downtown. Definitely go to 4O and throw a  :combofan: at the bartender.

Tremendous news about LJS.  Also, A&W is just a worse Freddy's.  I guess it's convenient for those fridays during lent when you have to eat fish and your heathen friends want to chow down on some hot dogs, but beyond that, A&W will be an ankle weight on LJS.

Were her initials E. O'n? Because that person only ever ordered chicken strips from COK. It was very weird.

No. And after thinking about it, her request of COK for chicken strips isn't really a credit to COK's quality of strips as much as it is an indictment of Chili's, Applebee's, etc.

Just got back from lunch at the Taphouse w/ Roidhead. Their Tuesday taco special is actually pretty tasty.

Has anyone talked about how La Hacienda has a new owner and is going all restaurant?  If not, I heard La Hacienda has a new owner and is going all restaurant.

Yeah they are full on restaurant already. Didn't know about the new owner part though. That's a bummer because the previous one seemed v nice.

Also and while we are talking owners. Rusty finally sold kites and last chance to some guy in kc.

Ended up skipping downtown and eating at Ganesha. It was better than the last time I went, but it's still not elite. Very, very happy that MHK has food from the subcontinent that isn't based out of the old Days Inn basement, though. (RIP, Mt. Everest Restaurant or whatever you were called.)

I was hoping to go on an elite double date with KK and Mrs. KK, but that didn't work out. Had to settle for a GE low-medium and his non-low-medium wife instead.

Ate at La Hac, too. I was sad to see that the Mexican cowboy boots were no longer available. Other than the kitchen hilariously botching my companion's order, the food was still v. good. Will return x1000.
