I know this is slightly ot for this thread but Arlen's Spirits (the new liquor store next to radinas bake house on 4th) is probably not going to last long so if you want to check it out you better do it soon.

The cheese place is not open.  Also, who would like to go to the new Cajun place with me sometime soon?

All of the liquor stores in town that aren't terrible already have extensive craft beer sections and they almost all have more square footage so they have room to keep the domestics staples and have room for lots of craft beers.  Same thing with wine.

Arlen's on my first inspection has a solid craft beer selection, but it is not significantly better than most any where else.  There wine selection is heavy on expensive domestic blends with kitschy names and in the $12-$20 range.

They have a couple of additional champagnes that only Classic or Nespors might carry but they have very little California sparkling, prosecco or cava selections.

I wasn't looking for a red, but I'd imagine the same problems.

here's the deal about liquor stores though, they rarely go out of business.

The cheese place is not open.

Over the holidays, I bought my parents a gift certificate at the bakehouse and then walked in the cheese shop to try to buy some cheeses for them.  But it was a liquor store, not a cheese shop.  Confusing.

Yeah.  That is a good observo.  This place is really pushing the limits though.

only liquor store within sightline and walking distance of like 400 rooms full of traveling drunks?  that was my impression of their business model when i saw the store.

also my thoughts on the radina's location, but substitute travelers forced to stare at hotel coffee and breakfasts for drunks.

I like Nespors when I need something to impress.  I like classic when I need something cheap.  I like the fridge or the library for beer.

Haven't been yet but Jeff Denney went today and the picture of his fajitas looked pretty tasty.

to clarify, i used to get el mariachi delivered a lot, and have had texanos delivered twice.  the second time was much better, but it was essentially the exact same product.
