I got the McAllister in the walnut color last year during the same sale. Most comfortable dress shoe I own. I wish they'd put the Park Avenue on sale

I have a new pair of cole haan cap toes that look kind of like the fifth avenue (but less baller) so I was happy to see the wingtips on sale.

Any thoughts on polo shirt under blazer for a little dressy, but not too dressy style?  Or ideas for alternatives?

For summer.

I think it's an elite summer look. completely unbuttoned polo with some wayfarers hanging off.

Just saw this.  I got Cole Haans coming early next week from their 30% off.  Like them for a bit bolder business casual.  Will checkout the Allen Edmonds

I quit wearing polo's when I moved here. but we don't really have summer.

I'd also like an everyday light jacket that is more fashionable than my Patagonia. any ideas?

I've found Cole Haan's to be a little hit or miss. I have a pair of wingtips from them that are great and quite comfortable. They're a little bit too roomy in the instep and they crease more than they should (despite using shoe trees, of course), but very comfy and I like them a lot, especially because I got them at an outlet for like $95. I have another pair of Haan's (Madison, I think) that are very visually appealing and appear to be well crafted, but are uncomfortable after about 4 hours on my feet and also have some weird cushioning in the footbed where I can hear air deflate from it with each step.

Finally getting around to purchasing new dress shirts. Brooks Bros. is the go to, right? This shirt is going to be the most versatile, right? http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Supima%C2%AE-Cotton-Non-Iron-Slim-Fit-Forward-Point-Collar-Dress-Shirt/224Q,default,pd.html?dwvar_224Q_Color=ECRU&contentpos=1&cgid=0203

I would only purchase a shirt with an ainsley collar if I'm going to wear a tie with a bulky not, correct?

Also, french cuffs v. standard, are there any rules on that?

Don't French cuff unless you wear a suit every day obviously. BB non-iron are the bread and butter of any professional ensemble. Wash, dry, hang immediately. Get some workinstiff collar stays.

Yes to the ainsley collar/tie. If you're not wearing a tie, I'd recommend button down 99% of the time.

I assume you're not planning on buying that shirt at full price?

Just using the website as a reference. I'm looking for the best deal.

I've got a pretty bangin' bod, but I should probably try on a slim v. extra slim in my size first.

yeah, i usually buy my BB a season behind. theyll drop the price 50% and have plenty of selection still available in store. the store at the legends is an outlet and has some pretty great prices, but they also have some decent sales online. sign up for emails from them. i have a 15% off card sign up email somewhere around here (youll have to tell them youre a DU)... :cheese:

pants are the absolute last place id spend money. buy a nice watch, shoes, and shirt/tie combo before you worry about pants. dockers do just fine...

i buy all my dress pants at kohls, usually get dockers for like $30.

go down to the BB in the plaza and try them on. fwiw, KSC, places like BB and J. Crew don't put their season behind stuff in an outlet store. they have completely different stuff that is made specifically for the outlet.

right, i just mean i never buy the stuff that says "NEW: Spring Line" or whatever. i buy most of it online...

there are definitely some woof shirts out there, you just have to do the shopping. those 3 for $225 deals are a complete rip off.

Obviously you don't wear french cuffs without a jacket, but are they too formal to be paired with a sport coat or blazer? (I'm assuming yes, but what do I know)

Should I get an assortment of workinstiff sizes, or will the 2.5"s cover all of my needs?

they are pretty baller with a sport coat or blazer with jeans or anything else. I'm just saying you won't get the use out of them like a normal shirt. I just have the one size workunstiffs. I have a shitload of the magnets though because I break or lose one about once a month.
