i don't care about the schedule. it's overblown that it will be that much more difficult.

we will we better. (that's a question)

and give some reasons.

This years team would beat last years team, this years team will finish with a worse record than last years team.

UGGH! I cannot stand this logic. If we are better, we will have a better record. If we don't both teams are a wash. F*ck.

6-6 and just plain not good enough to compete in the upper 1/2 of this league

oh fatty, I do believe we'll be better BUT we may very well have fewer wins.

First look at ourselves....units where we should be better
wide receiver
TE
DE
LB
CB

units where we might be the same...could be worse or better
QB
Safety
DT

units where we will be worse

OL
RB
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

better

Offense:  The Dick will work wonders on our OL.  More explosive at the RB position.  WR will be better.  QB will be more athletic/better.

Defense:  A. Brown.  More athletic.  A. Brown.  can't be as bad as last year? A. Brown.

schedule:  good home conf schedule - should get 4 home wins, could sneak up and get 2 roadies.

what's your take on overall w/l?

i mean, a better defense w/ all the wr's back and a better rb coupled w/ a more athletic/better qb should produce more wins. couple all this with the fact that we don't have to play central florida (top 25 non con team we played last year) and wow. should be nine wins or so. no?

I hope I'm wrong.  Obviously we have more big play ability w/ Bryce both as a long ball threat running and as a receiver.  But that doesn't necessarily make him a better back than Thomas as of this moment.  Thomas will likely go in the 2nd rd of the drat.  He's a proven commodity w/ durability.  And Powell was an awfully solid 2nd option.

Bryce has a lot of talent and there is a reason he was the #1 recruit in the nation.  To be honest, he's more of a 3 down back than Thomas given his ability as a receiver.  But Thomas was such a reliable carrier of the mail.

So you're saying that just because DT was pretty good and reliable, we won't be as good?  That's the most Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) argument I've ever heard.  If you're saying we're going to be worse, you need to make the argument that you think Bryce won't be as productive, explosive, or reliable as DT was...and there is absolutely no evidence that would back that assumption up.  Go to Rivals and search their entire recruiting database for the #1 RB recruit in each class.  The list speaks for itself.  Oh, and the last RB that was the #1 overall recruit in his class was named Adrian Peterson.

Also, our backups this year will be better than Powell.

Let's put it this way. Daniel Thomas = good vision and good durability. Not a power back. Not a speed back. Bryce Brown = More physical runner, faster. The vision/intangibles and durability we won't know, but we could certainly improve at running back. He won't get as many carries because there are better options around him.. (hopefully)

Also, if we are worse at qb than we were last year than a bowl is out of the question. Just saying.

I agree, the QB question is still up for grabs and that is probably the difference between us being a solid bowl-bound team and just a probably bowl-bound team, but I just don't see our D being worse (With Arthur Brown back there) and our running game. Bryce is a rough ridin' stud, he will carry this team just like DT did, but with a better defense behind him.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

bryce probably won't be as good because our o-line isn't as good this year.
he may have better ypc #s but thats only because he won't get as many touches as dt.
also DT was the best defensive formation we ran last season, bryce isn't built to carry the load like thomas.

IF Oline and Dline comes around, better. IF.

If everyone stays healthy we have more playmakers on both sides of the ball. IMHO.

we were 3-5 last year. A better team will finish with a better record. The "better team worse record" mantra is a cop-out.
