Lol Bobby will probably think Canada is jumping ship too, the idea that a scholarship player could be forced out is foreign to the tucks.

Despite his limited role, Russell said his experiences at K-State were positive.

"I enjoyed my time here at K-State and in Manhattan, Kansas," he said. "I wish that it could have been better. I wish I could have been able to graduate from here, got the chance to play at the next level from here. But unfortunately, it didn't pan out that way.

"I enjoyed myself. I'll miss the town. I love Manhattan."

JFC, even the players that hate Frank and are transferring can't deny their love for MHK.

Losing Nick is disappointing only in the fact that if your plan is to recruit 3-star talent its best to keep as much of that around as possible so you develop players.

That said, the "Russell is a great offensive threat" myth that somehow got started and perpetuated by K-State fans is ridiculous. All you have to do is look at a comparison of the 5 remaining guards and you see that Russell not only had the worst offensive rating off all 5, he also was the worst shooter.

http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/compare?add=devon-peterson&p1=nick-russell&p2=will-spradling&p3=martavious-irving&p4=2-juevol-myles

On top of that he gave inconsistent effort and played poor defense. He was okay with assists and defensive rebounding, but Nick had no real great skill, especially on offense, that made him stand out from the rest nor makes me think losing him is a big deal.

If Jones comes in and even tries, he'll be a better player than Nick, though I suppose I'm a bit hopeful he'll come in with some confidence simply based on the fact that he was one of the better JUCO players in the area and got a lot of attention. Having that can go a long way IMHO, and that is something Nick never had.

I wish him well, likely at a mid major at best, but this is not some great loss. Its certainly one this team can recover from.

Finally, I put Nick in the same category as Wally as far as this "I just want to play" junk both are playing. Frank went out of his way to give both plenty of opportunities to be one of the Top 7-8 players on this team by starting them and playing them plenty of minutes, especially early in the year. Neither one of them took advantage of that. They got much more of an opportunity than anyone else besides Pullen, Kelly, McGruder, and Samuels, so I can give them no sympathy there. Maybe if it was Irving or Myles saying that I could listen, but I can't from them.

I don't see Nick just leaving because he wasn't getting enough time. I see Nick leaving because Frank recruited more players than he had scholarships for and told Nick that he wouldn't be getting a scholly next year. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

I have no doubt its both, but it doesn't bother me. I'm just saying lets not pretend Nick and Wally didn't have a chance to earn whatever they wanted here, whether it be playing time or playing as a face the basket post player. I'd rather do what you can to keep them around, but at some point its probably best to go a different direction and that's what Frank does. Its all part of the buy in or quit philosophy. Like anything with a coach, if he wins consistently no one will really care. If he doesn't, it will blow up in his face.
