crazy finishes - arsenal fans had to be :ohno:
What happened (other than the loss)?

I think you guys were close to not qualifying due to GD, but I'm not sure. I had it on, but it was on mute, and I didn't pay attention.

I need to read up to understand how this league works. Are there only so many clubs from any one country?

Depends on the country. Better leagues like EPL get 4. Some only get one. Some don't get any because they are eliminated in the qualifying stages.

there were (and could have been) all sorts of crazy ways to determine how that table finished... one more goal from napoli would've sent you home.  on the flipside, you guys also had a chance of winning the table too - just one of those awesome crazy times when both games influence each other and who goes through.  napoli, dortmund, and arsenal all ultimately finished with 12 pts in the table, but napoli goes home on goal differential

Brendan Ruiz and Kyle Miller were just waived.

I'm interested to see what happens with Jimmy Medranda. He's here on loan, but we have an option to buy him. Wonder when the deadline is.

I'm glad Ruiz is gone. I mean, what a rough ridin' douche.

Also saw it on twitter, why isn't the American Super Cup a thing? MLS champ host the USOC to start the season.

Saw that. I'd be all for it. Another trophy for us to win. Wouldn't it be the equivalent of the Community Shield?

Minnesota United FC's ownership group took a tour of SP with Robb. Looking into a downtown stadium in Minneapolis. Would take.

Re-Entry draft first stage is at 2pm today. Usually only one or two moves in the first stage because you have to take players at their current options. That's why a lot of them (especially the good ones) are in the draft in the first place. Like Sean Franklin. He's a very good RB, but he's getting too much money. I imagine LA will attempt to re-sign him in Stage Two if he's available. LAG are 14/19 though. Doubt he falls that far.

2014 MLS All Star Game official announcement is today at noon. It's in Portland. Was already leaked that it will be Bayern Munich. Hopefully, they announce the date, so I can look into maybe going. Seeing a game at Jeld-Wen is on the bucket list.

Just started reading the thread from the beginning. Man, this thread has come a long way. Pretty funny to see how drastically opinions on the team and its players have changed.

Also, why doesn't mcmwcat post here or in the EPL thread anymore?

I really really really hate "Blue Hell."  An unnecessary and unearned Galatasaray ripoff.

MIR, how could you? :frown:

Chad Marshall to Seattle.  :surprised: Don't know what Columbus gets in return yet.

HOPEFULLY NOT EDDIE JOHNSON  :ohno:

Don't forget that we're without Omar Bravo right now.

The injuries and away games will definitely put us in a hole.  I just read an article in the KC Star about how Sporting has either the 4th or 5th highest payroll in the MLS so you'd hope they could stay in the race.

Lots of fans calling for Vermes to get fired after tonights game.  Most figured it would happen at the end of year, but at this point, it may help to add excitement and interest if they made a change before the opener.  I'd be happy to see them make a change as long as it isn't a complete nobody.

Vermes needs to go NOW we would be better off picking up Saint Thomas Aquinas' head coach

eeesh that's an ugly quote. Even when Sporting KC was sucking that season you knew we'd come good. 13 road games to open the season was going to kick anyone's ass. Vermes is guilty of the occasional starting XI brainfart (see NE first leg), but overall is very good at managing.
