Why I would like to see Coach Underwood as Head Coach next year Frank has done a good job and I wish him well. He gets his players to play hard. He has overachieved with the talent he has had.Coach Underwood is a good X's and O's coach whom everyone likes, with a good basketball IQ. I would like to see a coach who isn't looking to go elsewhere. I would like to see less drama, less transfers, less blaming of players, less swearing, and more consistent and sensible use of personnel and personnel decisions. I am no longer able to root enthusiastically for a Frank led team. I don't think he can take it to the next level due to poor offensive strategy, mediocre game day coaching, inability to recruit and keep some players due to his harsh style, and his style of substitutions and personnel usage.I believe we need a coach who will build for the long term, not looking to leave, and who is a superior strategist. Because we are unlikely to get and KEEP a world class recruiter (like Huggins or even better) therefore we need a smart coach who can win with good, but not world class recruiting. I do not believe Frank has the basketball IQ to do this.Even if Rodriguez transfers, and Upshaw does not come, I think Underwood can do a much better job next year than Frank could do WITH Uphaw and Rodriguez. Guards: Spradling, Jones, IrvingCenter: Henriquez (Gipson and Diaz as backups)Small Forward: McGruder (Southwell as backup)Power Forwards: Gipson, DiazIf Frank stays, Jones is a total loss. Players will be scared and play hard, but not necessarily in a smart system, with consistent positive motivation.I believe we can do better with a different coach, much better. But even if not, I just can’t enthusiastically root for a Frank led team any longer. I also doubt the players can be optimally motivated. I had a KU fan call me an idiot after I told him that basketball was not invented in Lawrence. He actually told me to google it or "learn my history." He has yet to look me in the face since.
