Best Queso?
« on: April 06, 2011, 05:46:21 PM »
I admit I'm a queso fiend.  Love me some chips 'n dip.  What's the best stuff you've ever had?  (Break in to two categories: Restaurant and Home-Made.)

I love some Rotel + Velveeta with some various fresh veggies and spices (jalapenos are mandatory) thrown in to a crockpot for home-made.  Haven't made up my mind yet on the restaurant stuff.  Tried a lot of good, but not great varieties.

I get a white queso dip at Dillons.  It's like a cube (kinda) and it's found in the. Fancy cheese case.  Add like a 1/2 cup of milk and melt.  rough ridin' delicious.

1/2 block Velveeta + 1 can no bean chili = sorta like chili's appetizer but with more meat to it (better)

Panzon's in Lenexa used to have a white queso with spinach in it.  I don't know if they have it still or not.  Haven't been in several years.  Loved it.

I've been told that Chillies actually uses velveeta and hormel.  No way I can actually verify that though.

I call it "con queso." That makes even less sense though.

here's my home recipe-
i take one can of hot rotel with habaneros

and put it into my mini prep and smash it up so there's no chunky tomatoes, etc

then pour it over a half block of fake velvetta, then microwave the crap out of it until it's melted.  i use the fake velvetta because it melts better.

I always thought it was queso dip, so cheese dip.  Seems to be the same standard as bean dip, which isn't necessarily just beans but that is the base of it.
