Gee, I wish we had our own supply of oil and the knowhow to build more refineries.

fire up beems time machine and tell the people in 1995 that.

can't decide who i hate more:

people that bitch about the weather, or people that bitch about gas prices.

Same people...double hate.

So true. These people are usually old and smelly or young with t-shirts tucked into their wranglers.

I'd probably bitch about gas prices, too, if I drove around in an RV that gets 6 miles to the gallon and could remember when gasoline only ran $0.40 per gallon.

Gas goes up a dollar a gallon?  Usually costs me an additional $10 bucks at the pump, and maybe $30 a month overall at my house.  No big impact.

Of course, when I buy a vehicle, I take gas mileage into consideration because I'm not an idiot.

I don't care what other people drive. It's just irritating when they bitch about the price of gas and don't even get 30 miles per gallon.

So truckers or plumbers or electricians are just a bunch of whiners?

Seems like those guys' companies would pay for their gas or they would consider that a business expense for tax purposes.  Sucks for the large companies that have a fleet of trucks that they have to fuel but that's the business they chose.

You'd be amazed at how many cars get over 30 miles a gallon (highway) these days.

So, if you're asking me if I want to buy a gigantic SUV that gets somewhere in the teens per gallon?  No.  I don't own a boat, therefore, I don't need one.

How elitist of you.

FYI- Those most affected by increased gas prices (i.e. poor people) don't buy brand new cars.  Stop being so insensitive, bad person.

Also, lol at someone who's so poor that they have to consider gas mileage when purchasing a car.

You're absolutely right.  There aren't several million Honda Civics and Ford Focuses out there on the road today that people won't eventually buy used.

Why don't you be a nice guy and leave your old shoes in those cars for them.  I'm sure a poor family of six would love to have a used Ford focus.

Very Obamaesque statement, just wait 8 years and you'll be able to afford gas, trust me.

Maybe we should fire up Beems' time machine and go back to 1995 and tell those dumbasses to invest in mass transit.

There are vans that exist, used, that get upper teens city and upper twenty highway.

You can make gas mileage a priority when you shop for a car.  There are models in nearly every class that are superior to their competition.  Sure, a plumber may complain, but does a plumber or electrician really need an F150, or could they have gotten by on a Tacoma or some other smaller truck?

It's been my experience that people who complain about gas prices are the same ones who buy Ford Expeditions or voluntarily chose to live an hour from their job.

I also find it funny that you supported Dave Ramsey in that other thread, and he would tell you exactly what I'm telling you here.  Damn hippie socialist.

Tacoma?  Pan have you seen a Tacoma lately??

Thing is, nobody makes a decent small pickup anymore, the smaller GMC/Chevy/Ford pickups are CAC.

But again, I am  because you can find about 20 videos of Pelosi and other Dems out their on the floors of the House and Senate shrieking about the price of gas and demanding that the strategic reserves be opened up . . . 3-4-5 years ago.

looking at the costs per gallon or mileage on trucks is stupid.

The real impact is the higher prices for food, clothing, consumer goods because of the higher fuel price to ship those items to the dumps we live in. Much bigger impact on the monthly budget than the difference between $3.00/gal and $4.00/gal.

Yeah, what will we do when the cost of a loaf of bread goes up $0.20, produce goes up $0.10 per pound, etc? I won't pay the extra $20-$30 per month on groceries, that's for sure. I'll probably just starve. :frown:

It most certainly won't affect all of the Warren Buffets on goEMAW, but it will definitely affect poor families. Gas and food are probably #1 and #2 expenses behind rent.

They are going to need more. We need to start considering the KU fans and how hyper-inflation is going to affect them.
