The Manhatter, I want Sams to start at QB next season as a true freshmen. It's the only thing that might get me interested in watching KSU football again. Agree?
You & I both would like to see that but I don't know if that is the best thing for the team. Our margin of error is small given the defense and some passing deficiencies. I would be stunned if he was our QB next year other than spot duty. It is such a big step up. I do, however, want to see him on the field getting some snaps at QB next year. Eff this redshirt thing. Use him the way Pinkel used Gabbert and the booger picker their true freshman seasons. But also take advantage of your resources and get him 15-20 snaps a game at wide receiver. The kid is a playmaker and would be deadly in those middle screens Quincy Morgan ran beautifully. Bryce Brown will scare some defensive coordinators because some of the better defenses we play will not be worried about Brod Smith, Harper, or Thompson in man coverage but if you put Bryce in the slot he is a legitimate threat for a go route against a safety. Most defenses won't have 2 corners, let alone 3 who can lock down college receivers. Another player I'm interested to see is Zach Trujillo. The kid did run a 23 second 200 in high school which states he has some speed for a TE. We have had zero wheels at TE since Shad Meier...and we couldn't use him like we wanted in '99 because our OL was terrible.
But we really blew it letting Kennard slip away. OU, LSU, Arkansas, etc. do not go after juco receivers if they don't perceive them to be playmakers. We had him in the bag to go w/ Bryce, Sams, etc. and he got away. That was a royal eff up.
