Wisconsin-Milwaukee coach Rob Jeter met with new Miami athletic director Shawn Eichorst over the weekend and could be the frontrunner for the Hurricanes' head coaching job, according to The Miami Herald.
Jeter, 41, is 101-89 in five years at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, taking over the program after spending 10 years on Bo Ryan's staff at Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Platteville. Eichorst and Jeter worked together at Wisconsin.
Other names mentioned by Herald as candidates are Mike Davis (UAB), Mike Jarvis (FAU), Frank Martin (Kansas State), Billy Kennedy (Murray State), Gary Waters (Cleveland State), and Donnie Jones (UCF) but none of them has been contacted by UM as of Friday. Some trustees have lobbied for Virginia Tech's Seth Greenberg, but they have not had any formal talks.
In other Miami news, incoming freshman G Bishop Daniels has asked the school for his release in the wake of coach Frank Haith's departure for Missouri. Daniels, from Raleigh, N.C., is expected to enroll at Tennessee or Rutgers, according to The Herald.
