stare into their eyes and tell them that you won't box out.  try to tell them that you won't  play defense for them.  you can't.

BITB: Frank is meeting with Currie for his annual review as we speak.

Uncomfortable meeting, I'm guessing.

Not uncomfortable for Currie.  I bet at the first mention of the Miami job Currie just says, "Well, it's been real, you'll do great down there!"  and quickly stands up to go and Frank starts blubbering like an idiot.

I wonder if he leaves if The Patio pulls their cuban menu in a really small-timey way similar to "freedom fries" or maybe they put up a che poster or something.  Would be great.  Merc could cover it.

I like to think that JC has the onions to do that.

If not, there has to be a lot of really uncomfy looks to absorb.  Could you imagine having to get through a meeting with an unhappy Frank.  Would be the bad part of most days.

Sources have told FOXSports.com that Jeter is a candidate for Miami - and a meeting could occur between Jeter and new AD in Wisconsin soon.

Milwaukee coach Rob Jeter is NOT in Miami today, per multiple sources. Source said he just left his office a few minutes ago.

BITB: Frank is meeting with Currie for his annual review as we speak.

I like to envision Currie reading some bullet points from a print out that he got from some random HR software.

"So, Frank, in the last review cycle, one of your goals was to go to the Final Four.  Well, doesn't look like you hit that one.  What could you have done better to achieve that goal?"

John: Frank, will you come into my office for a second?
Frank: Sure, John. (Walks in, sits down). What is it, John?
John: I just received a phone call from Donna Shalala at the University of Miami. She asked for permission to speak with you about the Head Coaching job down there.
Frank: (Eyes perk up, voice gets more cheery) Wow, John. That comes as a surprise to me. I guess I'll have to speak with her.
John: (Bursts out laughing) Just kidding, Frank. It was actually my wife that just called. She wanted me to pick up some meat from Hy-Vee on my way home. Ah, nice, huh? OK, shouldn't you be out recruiting?

Currie's ability to gauge quality compared to cost extends beyond the athletic department, apparently.

Source tells me Marquette HC Buzz Williams has been contacted by Miami for HC position. New AD Shawn Eichorst really likes him.
:surprised: well, there goes the "they won't pay" talking point.  Buzz will tell them to GTFOOHF but still, huh.  almost hard to believe.

I think a lot of people like Frank, but I don't think they like him enough to employ him.

His "Crazy Frank" shtick makes for amazing television, and he gives great, great interviews.  He's very amiable and approachable off of the field, so he'll always have positive media feedback.

But, with his on court temper, he'll never be a universally desired coach.  You'll have to have a very tolerable fan base (much like a co-dependent girlfriend) that will love him for who he is and is absolutely terrified of being left to fend for themselves without him.

Fans will want him, but the list of ADs willing to take a chance on him is going to be much lower.  He'll always be perceived as a ticking time bomb (like Bobby Knight was) and a potential liability.

It fits nicely with our "battered wife/no one else could ever love us" football fanbase.

Oh cac, do we suffer with Stockholm Syndrome in regards to Frank?   :ohno:

It's more appropriate with Bill (who really has taken football hostage), but I think it's true of all of our coaches.

I mean we're paying Deb $700K.  For what?  Two Big 12 titles in a sport no one cares about?  God forbid we lose the winningest coach in KSU Women's Basketball History.
