Painter had basically 0 bust potential. They get Painter, they are in good shape. It was safe. Whoever they get now has high bust potential.

Yeah IMO people have been overselling the crap out of Painter. BITB guaranteed a final four for Mizzou if he had stayed there at least seven years. Klinksdale calling him a top 5 coach. He's a very good coach, there are many very good coaches that don't regularly make final fours, Self has one. FYI Painter at Purdue has the exact same win percentage as Frank does at KSU.

i don't have anyone specifically in mind. just liked that painter hadn't historically recruited either dfw or kc. also that he had something of a recruiting base in st louis/indiana that could translate to missouri. i wouldn't like someone that would be the opposite of either of those two factors.

He's been very good at Purdue, changing schools doesn't guarantee that success would continue, even if he would have possibly had more resources at Mizzou. see Crean, Tom

Too old and the cancer thing is also an issue.

As much as I can't stand him Marshall looks like he's going to get one of these jobs. Again I can't stand him but I'd hire him before Smart. That isn't going to work, it hasn't worked in the past. These dumb ADs keep getting hoodwinked by these flash-in-the-pan tournament runs by unproven mid-major coaches.

I heard that about OU too. But the guy is LDS. Don't most LDS guys consider that the dream job?
