Gumbys opened up around 2000.  I honestly cannot believe it took a decade to fail.  Worst food in Manhattan.

I would rather eat a DiGiorno than Gumby's. The new place (Mr. Doughboy's) is definitely an upgrade. The pizza isn't as good as AJ's but they do sell it by the slice. They've also been advertising some kind of late night buffet which would probably be pretty cool.

Edit to add: one redeeming quality of Gumby's was that it didn't take too much to bribe their delivery drivers to drive you home.

I am not saying that Shuttle is fantastic.  I realize it isnt.  However it is the one food I can think of that I recognize it's simplicity, and love it more for it.

So they didn't leave because of a lack of business, right?  It's been a few years since I lived in The Hat, but wasn't Gumby's always super busy after hours?  Did they get shut down?  Bought out?  Couldn't compete with AJ?

Best pizza in Manhattan was Cream Cheese/Pepperoni from Pizza Shuttle. Not "best quality" but for $5 it was the best option late night. Many nights of  :bong: and pizza

I'm with you. I saw it closed for the first time this weekend and was all surprised. It's cheap pizza, but at a cheap price. Most college students live for that crap. It always seemed busy when I was in MHK.

Yeah, it was horrible, but it was a staple of my college years.  So, I'm sort of upset about this.
