So glad FAU lost, eff those rough ridin' floppers.

Uconn is going to be an interesting case study. They've lost 8 goddamned games but look at this stat.
Quote
22.5 — UConn's average margin of victory in the NCAA tournament. The record is 23.75 by 1967 UCLA, which was led by Lew Alcindor and blew out four foes: 109-60 vs. Wyoming, 80-64 vs. Pacific, 73-58 vs. Houston, 79-64 vs. Dayton
An 8 loss team, that didn't have key injuries during those losses, can't be considered one of the most dominant teams of all time, right?

I also think that Dan Hurley isn't going to be around UConn long enough to win a lot of championships. His style seems to be one that wears thin on everyone around him.

kim mulkey, what a coach.  i don’t care for her but she is just great at everything she does.

terrible officiating in this national championship game, hate to see it.

two national championships as a player, four as a coach, a gold medal olympian, and high school valedictorian.  just a really impressive person.

She's a trash human but a hell of a coach.

Today's game was a real conundrum for me. I didn't want Iowa to win, I didn't want Mulkey to win, and I sure as hell didn't want anything good for LSU fans, but I love Bayou Barbie.

ya twitter, like usual, is filled with really bad takes on the taunting thing

i can understand though that the majority of people haven’t played a single second of competitive sport, don’t have any real idea what they’re upset about (it’s not the taunting), and are simply reading the headlines and faux outraging their balls off

just another day on twitter

Just a crazy conversion rate, I get it's not over, but having 6 FF and on the cusp of your 5th Natty is insane and also something a certain institution in LFK is not at capable of despite their pleads to contrary

Since the turn of the millennium, UConn basically has expected to get a natty every 4-5 years. Crazy.

Pretty crazy that two players (Pack, Nowell) from one of the worst Cat basketball teams of all time (21-22), ended up being Most Outstanding Player of their respective Regionals in the 22-23 TOR-na-ment:

yes, but i mean for the Cat basketball team in question i think its pretty obvious that the problem was the lousy fanbase (worst in the country).

Man, oscar Weber was such a sack of crap. I could have coached that team to the tournament.

Turns out it’s hard to win games with a front court that wouldn’t start for Kansas Wesleyan

Couple interesting tidbits in the NIT this year.

Quote
the NIT will guarantee two teams (based on the NET rankings) from each of six conferences (Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and Southeastern). The top two teams in the NET rankings not qualifying for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament from each conference, regardless of won-loss record, will be selected.  Additionally, the 12 teams automatically selected will be guaranteed the opportunity to host a game in the first round of the NIT.

Quote
In each NIT game, the free throw lane will be widened from 12 feet to 16 feet, consistent with the width used by the NBA and FIBA.

I wonder how long before we see the free throw lane widened for all games

They ruined the nit. The team who won the nit wouldn't even be in the tournament under these rules. For the first time, I actually think the power conferences have a very real chance of excluding the other conferences from the artist formally know as the big dance.

Also if you're experimenting with rules, how in the hell are you not experimenting with quarters? American Men's college basketball is literally the only level and sanctioning body in the world that plays halves. Men's college basketball is completely mumped.

Where are the Cats at with the bracketology. Still need two more wins or is there a chance with just one more?
