Where will Billy land?
« on: February 18, 2010, 12:35:19 PM »
This guy says it could be the Big East.
http://www.lex18.com/news/is-a-big-east-school-interested-in-gillisipie-

I was kinda hoping it would be NU since he has been in the stands a few times this year.  Last time he was shown, I thought I remember the commentator mentioning that he has ties to the Ath Dept or some assist coach.

Doc at 1-10 in conf so far could make it easy for Osborn to make a change if someone good was available.

Thoughts?

If not NU, where?

Billy doesn't have enough "do it the right way" for Cornhole fans.

DePaul fans would fall into a happy dream-state rivalled only by our initial infatuation with Huggs if they landed Billy.  I think Billy has the good sense to avoid that job, though.

I'm thinking someone desperate in the Pac 10, like an Oregon State maybe.

How long until the Corn get sick of results of doing it the right way?

They've done it before with Nee, but I don't think they'll pull the trigger on Doc yet.  He's got the inexperience/youth SLTH talking point in his favor.  And it is possible that they may not have run their course on SLTH's yet since they are on their Asbury in the line of SLTH hires; maybe they'll need to go to a Wooly until they get desperate.

bcg's nu connection is to sadler.

sadler has two more years, min.  wouldn't surprise me at all if he makes the tourney before his time is up.

also, keep in mind, he already has two nit appearances in four years.  if he gets one or two more (3-4 in 6 years) he might/probably will get another year.  really, he's way out in front of mcdermott, bzey and knight in terms of keeping his job.

Nubb fans don't want a "do it the right way" coach.  But that's what they have so the'll defend him until they get a real coach.

Very true.  He went 6-10, 7-9, and 8-8 in his first 3 years in the league.  Would be tough (and stupid) for NU to fire him now.

Anyone else think that Billy is out there doing what Huggs did in his time off?  Getting buddy buddy with a couple hot shot HS kids, since he has no NCAA regs governing his contact with them?

Could he be poised to make the next turnaround similar to Huggs/Martin?

Billy could be dangerous given a few one-and-dones.

no.

that whole talking point was tremendously overdone anyways.  he mostly went fishing and got drunk.

I could see him coaching with Self if Dooley gets the head coaching job at UNC-Wilimington.
