Wanting to learn Spanish

El is often used for masculine nouns and la for feminine ones. But when the noun begins with a stressed a- or ha-, you must use el regardless of the gender.

I just realized a couple of days ago that the word for umbrella (paraguas) is a combination of para and aguas. "Para aguas" literally translates to "for waters".
