Guys I like water.  Very KC Royals fan of me but if we had an open endzone like that I would want fountains with purple accent lights.  The fountains could be oriented to still show the vast beauty of the rolling flint hills in the background.  We could even make it part of UPKS's landscape goal for the campus.  I mean don't we have engineers and landscape/turf architect majors that could make this happen?

Except purple.  K-StateO?  Maybe...

Fountains are okay for the outside of the stadium for beautification (however, if no trees, the fountains would be a stretch - water is more dangerous than trees).  But within, they aren't very football.  Flowing water = need to pee.  Nothing violent or intimidating about them.  Well, unless they shoot blood instead of water through them.

Will remind me of how much I drank before coming into BSFS, causing me to miss the whole pre-show

Big deal if you miss the pre-game show, with the exception of Harley Day and the Willie video they're all the exact same

Nope denied.  We installed more bathrooms so you can get in and out and not miss a beat of Willie riding around Town Hall in a Harley.

I'm apparently the only one having a hard time envisioning the Vanier on the east side...are we talking like outside the stadium in a standalone structure? Or building Vanier into the East side of the complex into a new limestone castle/town hall structure?   :runaway: :dunno:

I will take whatever gives us the following:
--enough replacement seats that we can take out the janky-ass metal bleachers for good
--an overhaul of the end zone fun zone that corrects the monstrosity that is that whole mess of low-elevation grade bleachers and disconnected sections that look like pizza slices
--an overhaul that corrects the terrible 1999/2000 addition of more seats on the students section side that extend waaaaay past the back of the NEZ. You know, the ones that are almost never filled and look shitty when the camera shows them on kickoffs and turn BSFS into Kyle Field.

I like the catwalks that seem to be envogue at NFL stadiums...lets rig up some catwalks in the NE & NW corners to connect the N w/ the E/W

I think Heinz Field has similar walkways in the corners, but I cant find pics

Can fix the seating by building the NEZ up like Seattles (and connect to it via catwalks)

Phase 1 - Replace the North student section by wrapping seats around to the existing Vanier mirroring the South End Zone.  Construct new locker room facilities and weight training into the hill behind the new added seats.

Phase 2 - Bring down the existing Vanier and extend the seating to the west to
matchup with the west side seating, again mirroring the South endzone.

This would allow construction without losing use of the facilities (more or less).

Yeah I'm imaging east connect to north connect to west in (essentially) one seamless transition, an entire complete not just a series of disjointed buildings, it's what the master plan calls for more or less.

Would take. I really hate those lame grass areas on each side of the NEZ seats.

If your stadium is almost always sold out, it is too small.

huh?

I wouldn't be bothered by a few empty seats most games. It seems like if you completely sell out most games, you're wasting an opportunity to put more butts in seats by not having enough. Wouldn't it be ideal to have slightly more seats than ticket buyers for every game, so you know you're selling the maximum amount of tickets you can. I know people like to say SELLOUTTZ!YEAH! and maybe that creates more demand than there would be otherwise, but it seems like if you sell a games out, you should put in more seats imo.

Depends on what it does to the value of tickets... a very simplistic view is this.  100 tickets at $50 = $5000 revenue. 1000 tickets at $5 = $5000. Only it costed a bunch of money to build seats for 1000 people.

Unfortunately, you're missing a VERY key element in this simplistic view...  Concessions.

It's why NHL and MLB execs give away a crap ton of tickets for weekday/weeknight games.  They simply want the concession rev by having "butts in seats".

100 people spending an average of $5-8 each on soda, popcorn, etc. = $500-800

1K people spending an average of $5-8 on concessions = $5k-8k

I admitted it was simplistic, but the thing is we're not doubling our capacity, it would be ~10k people and would cost millions. And those concessions are only worth money if you actually have people that will sit in them.

Like I've said, I would love to have the seating.....as long as they can be filled.

Nobody is proposing spending millions just to increase the number of seats. We want to spend millions to renovate the east side of the stadium, replace Vanier with a new badass complex, and then fill in the north endzone seating so it doesn't look like crap. The extra seats are just a bonus. They aren't going to generate a lot of revenue, but if people aren't buying them, there really isn't any reason that we couldn't drop the price of the shittiest seats in the stadium to fill it.
How would they be any shittier than the south end zone seating.  Just do it right and add some height.
Hot time in Kat town tonight.

I think is the smart thing to do the Vanier complex next. It will help out with recruiting and bring in even more studly players on top of the ones we've got. Also LHCBS could put two stair masters in his office.

Top that with a video board that goes almost the width of the field and is about 15' or so high, and throw in some limestone, and you got yourself what I had in mind for the SEZ. Also if you were to imagine cutting the number of rows in half, taking the 3 middle sections out and making it a flat plane for party deck (that'd be at 10' above playing surface), and also add limestone and field wide video board, with tunnels on both ends for the Qhatz and the other team, and of course giant training facility behind it and that pretty much would be my dream for the NEZ

Like the idea. Think they should just connect the box level seats all the way around and enclose the thing, similar to OKST

Can't, they are at significantly different heights.
