Will the "cool" Pinstripe Bowl K-State be on the new field at BSFS?

Yes . . . it's cool.  Currie Prevails.

I guess I just don't see the point of bringing in trees to make the stadium look nice when nobody is around to see them and then carting them off when people come to the game. We should just eliminate 20-30 parking stalls if we need to and plant the trees in front of the stadium so it looks nice all the time.

Man, someone doesn't care about the players that just want to sit in the shade after a hard practice.  Sad.

Well, that is a good point. We have to put the players first.

Guys,  trailer trees are obvs the answer here.

Haul the off for game day, leave them there the rest of the yr.

This is an amazing concept.  Does this exist today?

No clue.  Could easily be done though.  You should do it and pay me a huge fee per sale.

Could conceal wheels or make them removable so that you only need a couple pairs for your trailer tree biz.  All trailers should be made to look like decorative planters when wheels are off.

Problem is that most places aren't designed by ppl that think trees are problems.  Even more, most places are required by the municipality they are building in to include a min amt of trees(permanent, not trailer type).  So the market may not be very strong.

Anyway, you'll figure it out after you pay me a huge fee and we come to an agreement on monthly compensation for the idea.

I'll apply the technology to flame throwing statues and tesla coils and get back to you with the money after I visit the Koreans.

I hope the hotel is run by K-State so our awesome hotel and restaurant management cats get OTJ experience.

the real loser here as it relates to the trees getting nixed from the plan?

our children. it's the junior wildcat club whose little lungs will suffer from lack of fresh O2 in our beautiful MHK that those trees would have supplied.

somewhere ecokat is rolling over in her grave (crafted from 100% post consumer waste product).

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Imagine Anderson Hall or Hale Library squatted down in the middle of a massive parking lot. No trees.  Still nice buildings, but much less impressive.  Our Castle is awesome.  Just less awesome than it should be.  Oh well.

I'm where you are, except i still haven't been able to say "oh well".

just wait until he finds out that a cinderblock asian restaurant in being built on top of cattown.

Haha.  Imagine if WSC scrapped the limestone cladding.  Just a giant cinderblock castle.  Now that'd be just grand, amirite?  Surely nothing to be confused about.

i think we can all agree that the trees make the WSC look better, and to say having landscaping on the north and south sides of it will make up for it doesn't really make any sense.

Yeah. I mean, even if there is no room at all for trees (which I don't believe for a second), putting some small bushes in front of the stadium would do wonders. Having a gigantic asphalt parking lot going all the way up to the stadium with absolutely no green space seems kind of Walmarty.

So the WSC is Walmarty because there aren't trees in front of it. Got it.

The parking lot absolutely is. The WSC is great, but it could look much, much better for less than $10,000 worth of landscaping.

LOL, I just spent $11,300 landscaping a suburban liquor store.

Can we get ivy on the WSC exterior walls?  Seems like ivy would green it up but not hinder traffic.  Also seems elite.

You could have just ran to Walmart and spent $500 and the landscaping would have looked much nicer than the asphalt paradise at BSFS.

Trees would look nice, would be a nightmare on game day. Not sad.

the editor of the LJ world says KU is close to awarding contracts on track removal, squaring the bowl, and other improvements to memorial. phog seems to think it'll be like a $200 million project.

As weird as it sounds I kinda hope KU is actually doing something, it might kick our donors enough in the butt to get through at least Phase IV before the sqwaks get to enjoy anything at Memorial Stadium. Competition is good.

If there's one thing sports teams with ivy covered facilities are known for, it's winning.

who knew our board was filled with budding arborists ( ) and landscape aficionados?  men of many talents, it's true what the old wise men say, you can never underestimate a wildcat when it comes to espousing fervent landscape ideas.

I don't want ivy that looks like Wackycat's bush before he learned manscaping, but a nice trickle of ivy looks pretty nice.  :dunno:

KU should just make the field larger and let us play with 12 players there.
