New video board in the N. Endzone is a must...it's like watching a 23" tv.

No actually it's not.  Very fre stadiums have two big video boards and I can't think of a single 50,000 seat stadium with two.  Complete waste of money to have two big boards for a stadium the size of BSFS.

Its a waste to have 2 boards at all. One huge one in the N. Endzone would be better. Currently the one in the N. Endzone is too small for the people on the south side of the bowl to see it so they have to crane their neck around and look behind them. Steupid planning.

Stupid planning?  At the time that video board went up in the NEZ it was top of the line.  They should have planned decades into the future and built Vanier so that it would one day be able to hold a 7500 square foot video board?

They should have put it where everyone could see it in the first place.

It was my understanding that structural limitations of Vanier forced them to put it in the South EZ.  If we were to put it in the NEZ, we would have had to do that stupid looking thing Iowa State did.

New LED Technology is much lighter.  The old tuck myth strikes again.   Once they got past weight they went on about "wind loading" . . .  well they left the entirety of the old speaker system up there, that weighs a lot, and by design if the wind is howling from either the north or south they catch a lot of wind.   The real answer is that that they cheaped out 5 years ago.   They can take everything down that's up there now, use the even newer, thinner LED panels and put up a videoboard that's much larger than what's up there now.  Certainly not a mega godzilla tron, but a board that's at least double the size of the one now in terms of viewable area.  

I think within the next couple of years, they need to look at moving the existing boards to the baseball stadium (larger one) and track (smaller one) and start over from scratch in the football stadium.  

Also, they need to replace the videoboards on the scoreboard in Bramlage, they likely won't replace the whole thing because they just spent a boatload of money re-doing the timing and scoring system/panels.

Of all people I would think you'd be the last person to ascribe to the Lew Perkins spend tons of money just to spend it model.  We have the 66th biggest stadium yet have the 38th biggest video board.  We have bigger boards than Alabama, Oklahoma State, Clemson, Wisconsin, Stanford, and Tulane.  Every person in the stadium has a clear look at the field or a video board.  There is literally no reason to purchase a new video board until damage or obsolete technology dictates so.  There are much better ways for Kansas State Athletics to spend $5 million.

All I said was they could put a bigger board on the North End relatively easily, and I didn't say it had to be a godzillatron, just one that was easier to see.   I am also not saying they need a bigger board on the South End, just a technology upgrade, and moving the existing boards to baseball and track helps them.

So why are people against a better jumbotron in the North endzone?  It's probably somewhere in this thread, but I didn't want to read all of it. 

Every horseshoe stadium I've been too has a big jumbotron at the open end of the horseshoe - so that EVERYBODY in the stadium  can see it without turning around 180 degrees to see it.  At ours, we have a 55" big screen duct-taped to the top of Vanier. 

Why, in a 100million expansion, are we not interested in putting some $$$ into a new jumbotron?

Again, "wind loading" and "weight" is PowerTuck cover story, for: Piecemeal and Cheap.   

Sony Jumbotrons were extremely heavy, LED video boards are much lighter.  Large speaker cabinets are essentially giant wind catchers and with huge PA speakers still inside they are extremely heavy as well.   Take all of that out, and start over, instead Weiser would only pony up for taking out the old Sony JumboTron and installing a similar sized LED video board in the same frame, and putting in a new scoreboard beneath.

I don't get this argument at all.  So what is our next step, increase stadium capacity to 38th or decrease the video board size to 66th??

I like nice things...After sitting in the S. Endzone for a couple of games I really dislike the "jumbo"tron in the N. endzone, can barely see the replays (and I have good eyesight).
